Online Shopping Is Fun

I love shopping online! So many fantastic stores, great selection of products are just a click away. And, it's usually cheaper than buying offline thanks to Ebay, Amazon and bunch of other coupon and price comparison sites. Find what you need or want, save time and money. And now, it's also great fun to thanks unique ideas from smart entrepreneurs. In this lens, I will explore some interesting online stores and unique concepts that could only be conceived by the power of World Wide Web.

Woot.com

One Day, One Deal

Many people know about it, but some may not. The idea is simple: One product, one low price (usually the best price anywhere) available until the next day or it sells out which it usually does. They have spun off new sites wine.woot.com, shirt.woot.com and in partnership with Yahoo!, they released SellOut, which is available at shopping.yahoo.com. They continue to lure shopaholics all over the US, everyday with cool stuff and cool prices.

SomethingStore.com

What will your something be?

This is a new site with an interesting concept: They will send you "something" a mysterious, random product for a flat price and you will find out what it is when you receive. The price is only $10 including shipping. There is a Something Tracker page showing examples from recent stuff they have sent out and there are neat, cool and fun stuff. It's cool concept with a neat surprise angle and worth a try.

SantaMail.org

Letters from Santa

Some smartypants got a postal address at North Pole, Alaska, pretending he is Santa Claus and charge parents 10 bucks for every letter he sends to their kids? Owner Byron Reese sent over 200.000 letters since the start of the business in 2001, which has netted him couple of million dollars. Definitely a interesting concept that has caught on with people.

Restaurant.com

Eat. Drink. Save Money.

These guys sell restaurant gift certificates for much less than their face value. For example you get a $25 certificate for $10, then you pay with your restaurant bill with the certificate. You save money, restaurant.com makes monet, restaurant owner fills the tables. It works for everyone.

Etsy.com

Your place to buy and sell everything handmade.

Etsy is not an online store but a marketplace dedicated to everything handmade. Buyers and sellers come together at this site, similar to eBay but they only sell handmade goods. It's a great idea to get artisans and craftspeople around to world come together in a community and it's a joy to browse through all the cool, unique and interesting handmade goods. Since sellers are not as greedy as big-box retailer the prices are quite good.
