Named for a gorgeous location on Vancouver Island, this beautiful bracelet is crocheted using Argentium sterling silver, which contains the same percentage of silver as classic sterling, but is a less-tarnishing alloy. The result is beautifully brilliant, easy to wear, easy to care for jewelry. Polished amazonite beads in delicate shades of cloudy blue-green are woven into the silver work, mingling among the loops. The band of amazonite is wrapped gently with a strand of silver, accented with larger moss agate nuggets. This striking design evokes the cool Pacific water, misty old growth forests, and rocky shores of Tofino, British Columbia.

I use argentium silver wire for most of my new designs. It is a newer alloy, which has the same percentage of silver as sterling (92.5%), but more germanium in the mix. I'm not a chemist or a metallurgist, but this particular blend of metals results in a very tarnish-resistant form of silver. So you get all the beauty of silver, without the work and worry over removing tarnish from sterling. I do still use sterling for some pieces, but as I use up my supply of sterling components, I will switch over to all argentium.
