Travel to the Incredible Destinations of the United States
Hundreds of National Parks, spanning coast to coast, world class cities, and charismatic small towns in between rural farmlands. It's what makes the United States such a unique world travel destination, begging to be explored. From the coastal inlets of New England to the arid desert of Death Valley, the snow capped peaks of the Grand Teton range to the wetlands of the southern states, the USA is incredibly diverse, and easily traveled.
Here you'll find some of the best destinations in the USA, with links to further information on each region, along with some travel tips and suggestions.

Visit the best destinations in America via road
Road travel can be the best way to see many of the destinations within the United States. Places like New England, California, Florida and the east coast have many attractions within a relatively small area, so it just doesn't make sense to fly. Other regions like the four corners and the southwest don't have air travel to the remote deserts, so you're only option is to drive. Driving will allow you to see everything, and can stop at some of the smaller, more personal destinations along the way.

The Coachella Valley of California
Southern California's inland desert valley

Greetings from Palm Springs Art Print
The Coachella Valley of southern California is one of the hottest areas of the United States, and one of the most interesting. The region is an innovator in wind energy, as you see wind turbines lining the pass near Mt. San Jacinto. Further into the valley, a vast desert community sprawls out over the towns of Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, Indio, and others. Often referred to as the Palm Springs area, some of the best golf resorts and luxury spas in the country are right in the valley. The world famous Aerial Tram is one of just a handful of rotating tram cars in the world, and will provide an enormous view of the valley and way beyond.

Yosemite National Park
Northern California's majestic granite peaks and domes
If you could label just one place in the USA as heavenly, it might be Yosemite National Park. The park's valley view is a moving experience that can only be described by actually being there, but I'll try. As you leave the tunnel that leads through the mountains just before the valley, you'll immediately be dumped out into the "valley view" area of Yosemite. Gazing across the valley floor, you'll see rows of alpine spruce trees, framed with granite peaks. Gushing waterfalls cascade down in between the peaks and rumble all across the park, as the mountains recede into the distance as far as you can see.

Utah
The beatiful National Parks of southern Utah
Utah is a favorite spot to visit in the United States for a number of reasons. First, there's a string of National Parks one right after another in the southern portion of the state. Second, it's a trip in itself, as you make your way from Bryce Canyon to Zion National Park, to Capitol Reef to Canyonlands and Arches National Park. The red rock canyons and sandstone formations will leave a lasting impression on you that won't soon forget.

DK Eyewitness Travel Guide: The USA
A recommended guide to traveling the United States
DK Eyewitness makes one of my favorite general guides to the United States, this one. It covers every region of the country in depth, with travel tips and advice that's easy to look up on the go. The size of the book is perfect for traveling, and the cover is durable and won't bend or curl over time. There's also a lot of illustrations in the book, which gives a better idea of what you might be interested in than big blocks of boring text.

No, this isn't Disney World, it's the real must-see attraction of Florida, the Everglades. Towering palmettos offer welcome retreats to the endangered bird life, while the low lying mangroves deeply root into the creeks and rivers. The water leads to the open waters of the Atlantic, home to sea turtles, coral reefs, manatees, and some of the clearest water in the United States.

In the next 3 months, I will be going to Vegas, Oklahoma City, Chicago, Detroit, South Jersey, and Philadelphia. And yes, I will be driving through it all.
