Unlimited Hyrdoplanes powerboat racing

Unlimited Hydroplane racing Truly is the king of racing.It is a mystery to me why this sport is not bigger than Nascar racing.Hopefully, this Lens will add to the popularity of the sport.The problem with auto racing from a spectator perspective...is that you actually see very little of the race.At the 100mph+ speed of the cars they whizz by the grandstand and the fans see mainly a colorful blur of moving metal.Only the most observant[and photographic memory blessed]can keep track of which car lapped which during the 80% of the lap that can't be seen from the grandstand.This is not the case in Unlimited hydroplane racing!The size of the boats as well as the open water" track" make it easy to see who is winning at any moment..In addition Unlimited is truly a derby race with very few rules.The restrictions are; 1] the boats must be propeller driven 2] the boats must meet size and weight limitations .Today, a turbine boat must weigh a minimum of 6,575 lbs empty.That's about it.So some boats are still powered by the traditional WW 11 vintage 12 cylinder aircraft engines but most are now floating jet planes using the same engines that fly commercial aircraft!These are exciting craft just to see on the water..much less side to side in a tight turn going 180 mph on the water!!
