Unofficial Guide to Disney World Guide Book Review

Are you looking to find the best Disney World guide book? When you visit Disney World it really does make sense to have a great guide book. One of my favorites is
The Unofficial Guide Walt Disney World 2009

This is certainly one the best Walt Disney World guide books as it is very comprehensive - at 864 pages it covers a lot of ground! But is this book the right choice for you? There are a number of great Disney World Books and this review will help you choose which one your family will enjoy the most.

Should I Buy The Unofficial Guide To Disney World?

The Unofficial Guide Walt Disney World 2009
is one of the top selling book guides. With over 4 million books sold since it was launched it has certainly helped many people make the most of their Disney World vacation.

It is one of the first guide books which I ever bought and I remember that I spent many hours reading it whilst deciding the best places to stay, and how to plan my very first trip.

What is great about the book? And what is not so great?

Information. Lots of It!

The Unofficial Guide is huge. Almost 900 pages long. To some this is a positive. It certainly covers a lot of ground - from hotel accommodation and dining, to individual reviews of the Disney attractions, touring guides, and tips of how to make the most of your time and money. You name it, the Unofficial Guide covers it.

But not everyone wants to digest this amount of information. Personally whatever the subject I like to get all the information and then take what I need from it. But if you are looking for a quick and easy guide this is not the one for you. Be prepared to put in the time to study the Unofficial Guide and you will benefit, but be aware it is not a quick fix guide to Disney World! So order it as far in advance of your Disney trip as you can - you are going to need some reading time.........

Well Researched

The Unofficial Guide is very well researched. Whilst a printed guide book goes out of date the moment it goes to print, the Unofficial team do a great job of keeping things as up to date as possible.

The book also makes great use of reader reviews. They encourage Disney World guests to write to them with their feedback and some of this is printed in the book. Nothing is better than hearing the experience of other Disney World visitors, and they also don't shy away from printing opinions which are critical of their book.

Touring Plans

You keep hearing it. You really must plan to get the most out of your Disney World vacation. Sometimes it seems as though the planning is getting in the way of just getting out there and having fun! Well the Unofficial Guide comes to the rescue with their very popular touring plans. Designed so that you can cut them out of the book and take them with you to the Disney parks the touring plans have several versions. So whether you want to tour in one day, travel with kids, arrive early, arrive late there is a plan for you.

Honest Opinions

The fact that the book relies so much on the opinions of Disney World guests is a great feature. The Unofficial Guide encourages everyone to participate in their survey so that they have the best picture of what the consumer really thinks of Disney World. The hotel and restaurant guides are particularly helpful.

First Time Visitor or Experience Disney World Visitor?

The The Unofficial Guide Walt Disney World 2009 really gives something to everyone. Whilst many people buy it before their first visit. Even experienced Disney World guests find it helpful. Yes I do have a copy of the 2009 edition on my bookshelf!

Any Negatives?

It is obviously impossible for a printed guide book to be absolutely up to date. But this shouldn't put you off buying a printed Disney World guide book.

Size. Yes a book can be too large for some people. So if you want to glance quickly at something and get a sense of what you will enjoy at Disney World then steer clear of this book as it can be a little overwhelming.

Other Walt Disney World Guide Books

If I only had to choose 2 Disney World books what would they be?

There are many Disney World Guide Books and whilst the Unofficial Guide is one of my top 2 favorites it isn't for everyone.

So what is my equal first choice of Disney guide book? It definitely has to be Julie Neal's brilliant The Complete Walt Disney World Guide

If you possibly can I would suggest buying both the Unofficial Guide and the Complete Guide. They are very different in style and I think compliment each other wonderfully.

Julie Neal's Guide is more compact and concise than the Unofficial Guide but if what you are looking for is great information with amazing pictures then this is the one for you. It doesn't go into as much detail as the Unofficial Guide but this is your quick fix Disney World guide, with no compromise on quality information.

In many ways this book just doesn't deserve to be only in 3rd place on my list. I love the Passporter guide book too - it just think the others have a bit of an edge over this one!

The maps of Disney World in this book are perhaps the best of the guides. Being able to plan with a map in front of you is very helpful. This guide also offers features that others don't - such as the planners and journal keepsake features.

Whilst I would say it isn't as comprehensive as either of the other 2 books it is a good guide for first time visitors to Disney World.

The Healthy Guide to Walt Disney World

The Healthy Guide to Walt Disney World 2009: How to Eat Right and Stay Fit in Disney - The NEW Diet, Dining, Food, Fitness and Complete Weight Loss Book

Amazon Price: $11.50 (as of 02/15/2012)Buy Now

This is an excellent book which covers how to choose healthy food options and keep up an exercise program at Walt Disney World. We all know about the amazing buffets and dining options but this book takes a look at how we can all make simple changes to make sure that we do not arrive back from our Disney World vacation several pounds heavier!

I found this book to be a refreshing change from the usual information. Disney World itself has taken great steps to provide healthy choices, and in my experience is very happy to cater for whatever dietary need you may have. The Healthy Guide to Walt Disney World 2009
includes

- Where to find organic food products
- How to improve your Disney Marathon and Sports experiences
- Special Dietary Needs tips (including Vegetarian, Kosher)
- Where and when are the best places and times to maximize fitness
- Latest information on resort expansions, restaurants and food choices

Without a doubt the best book. We've used it twice and loaned our copy to 4 other families to help them plan their Disney trips.

I have never been to Disney World - with a toddler in the house I'm thinking that will change soon and now I'll know which guides (can't buy just one) to get!

I haven't been to Disney World Since 2000, but Disney holds a great place in my heart. My daughter was one of 2000 kids worldwide to be chosen as a "Millenium Dreamer" by Disney and McDonalds. Disney pulled out all the stops when they brought those 2000 kids together to celebrate their accomplishments. Thanks for being such a great promoter!

    Great book review!

Like many Disney fans my favorite is The Healthy Guide to Walt Disney World 2009 by author Dan Green. We used it on our recent Disney vacation. Loved the book's food recommendations and Disney Dining tips. My kids even liked using the book to figure out where they wanted to eat in Disney. Very helpful review.

I didn't even know they had guides, official or unofficial? Wow! Great unique topic. I will have to find the one for Disneyland in California now won't I? 5 stars! Good work, I'm noticing a pattern of perfection in your lenses. Terrific read!
