Poignant and heartwarming inspirational short films that you can watch online.
The best short films are ones that make you ponder for hours, even days on end. Positive stories that broaden your mind and allow you to see a fresh new perspective on life. Touching stories that make you reflect and push you towards becoming a better person and leave you feeling like a million dollars. Fortunately I have just the list of uplifting, inspirational and motivational films and they are short enough for you to watch right here, right now.
If you can spare just 40 minutes of your time to watch all of these films right this moment, that would be fantastic.

Uplifting short film #1: Signs
A very sweet romantic film.
Where do you find love? If we knew, we would all know where to look.
Sometimes all you need is a sign.
Signs is a heartwarming short story about two people working in opposite office towers who communicate and eventually find love by holding signs up to their respective windows. It was created by Publicis Mojo and @RadicalMedia and is a 2009 Cannes Lions winner. The story is very engaging and the chemistry of the actors and their performances are superb. When I was watching it, I barely noticed the passage of time and couldn't wait to see what will happen in the end.
Director: Patrick Hughes
Written by Patrick Hughes, Karl Fleet & Nick Worthington
Are you in love?
Here's how to tell if you are and if he's really into you.
Falling in love can give anyone such a pleasant, unexplainable rush. So are you really in love? Learn to read the signs and see if what you're feeling is the real thing.
Uplifting short film #2: Marry Me
A cute and charming little love story.
Little girl likes little boy. Little boy likes BMX bike. Something has to give.
Marry Me is a cute love story about a young girl who likes a young boy and a young boy who likes his BMX bike. The film is based on a true story of director Michelle who, at 5 years of age, would chase her crush Jason Mahooney around the school in a pretend wedding dress (her mother's nightie). This is an adorable short film that captures the innocence of childhood, and the children's acting is very believable. Women viewers will love the ode to girl power somewhere towards the end.
Director: Michelle Lehman
"Marry Me" is the 2008 Tropfest Australia Film Festival winner
The World's Greatest Proposals

In a recent Internet contest, Fred Cuellar (a.k.a. "The Diamond Guy") offered a beautiful, sparkling diamond in return for the most hilarious, creative or inspirational proposal story. As a result, he received thousands of wonderful engagement stories and has collected the best here in The World's Greatest Proposals. A perfect shower gift, this beautiful little book will bring tears of joy, love and laughter to everyone who knows what it means to find the love of their life.
Uplifting short film #3: Clocktower
A quiet, heartfelt and moving film.
A clockwork girl learns her true purpose in life, and her ultimate sacrifice to save her clockwork world.
The Clocktower is a short animated film that was actually created as a thesis project. It is about a clockwork girl who lets go of her dreams in order to make her world function normally again. It's a very sad and touching story, yet it makes us think of how one person's anonymous selflessness can make a huge difference in many others' lives.
Created and animated by Cara Antonelli
The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein
A poignant tale of unconditional love.
Every day the boy would come to the tree to eat her apples, swing from her branches, or slide down her trunk and the tree was happy. But as the boy grew older he began to want more from the tree, and the tree gave and gave and gave. This is a tender and touching story that warms the heart and offers an affecting interpretation of the gift of giving and a serene acceptance of another's capacity to love in return.
The Giving Tree
Amazon Price: $7.98 (as of 02/16/2012)![]()
"Once there was a tree ... and she loved a little boy." So begins a story Of unforgettable perception, beautifully written and illustrated by the gifted and versatile Shel Silverstein. This is a classic, both touching and poignant because it can be interpreted and reflective of real life in many ways.
Uplifting short story #4: Wrong Side of the Bed
A clever film that plays on alternate realities.
Normality takes a turn on his head when Mr Average Joe suffers a very unlucky day when he gets up on the wrong side of the bed. Will he manage to get back on the right side of life or will he be doomed to suffer bad fortune for the rest of the day?
In Wrong Side of the Bed, a split screen shows us the same character having a great day on one side, and a much worse day on the right. The opposing realities collide somewhere down the middle and ends in a pleasant, unexpected twist. It reminds me a bit of the 90s movie Sliding Doors (which I love, incidentally).
Director: Daniel Lucchesi
Sliding Doors (1998), a movie by Peter Howitt
Exploring the "what if"
A movie comparing reality to a what-if scenario. Sometimes it's fun to daydream about what could've happened if you took the other path on a fork life presents you.
Uplifting short film #5: Validation
A delightful film that revolves around the importance of knowing you are appreciated.
Validation" is a fable about the magic of free parking
Validation is an independent short film about, well being validated. It talks about the importance of encouragement and motivation, of letting someone know that that he or she is doing something right. It's 16+ minutes long, the longest by far on this movie list, but please trust me, this is absolutely worth watching.
