How to Compost
Composting is very easy to carry out. The key factor of knowing How to Compost is to keep a 50/50 balance between the amount of carbon producing compost materials and nitrogen producing materials. It may be easier if you use a simple color code. Carbon producing materials are typically dry such as fallen leaves, dry grass, straw etc. these are brown in colour. Nitrogen producing materials are greener, freshly mown grass and kitchen waste. If you try and keep the 50/50 balance of brown and green materials the Urban Compost Tumbler UCT-9 will turn your waste into a compost that will be rich in nutrients and minerals.
In addition to beautiful nutrient and mineral rich compost, the Urban Compost Tumbler UCT-9 can also produce wonderful Compost Tea - not for you to drink! - but to feed both indoor and outdoor plants with.
The procedure to making Compost Tea is as easy as making compost with an urban compost tumbler. Simply have add the attachment to the bottom of your compost tumbler and sprinkle water on top of your ready to use compost and add a food source such as kelp or fish powder. Rotate the composter every day and the micro-organisms in the food source will work their magic and produce nutrient rich compost tea in 3-10 days.
A very cost effective way of producing both dry compost and compost tea to feed your soil and your plants with.

Just started turning up a old goat pen, found a lot of old hay buried and not very composted so I dug it up a piled it up with a bit of the well composted stuff and soaked it down, hope it starts doing its thing now.

- Very cool lens! I agree on many points you make and have taken away some great info regarding composting! I do prefer to make my compost from straw bales, but I have used store bought composters in the past that worked pretty well. Thanks so much :) Simple Compost, Straw Bale Compost Bin
