Did you realize that the results of the 2010 United States Census determines how much money will go to your state and your community? Did you realize that the money spent to pay Census Takers reduces that amount? Therefore, the sooner we return our Census Form, the more money our State and Community will receive. Let's spread the word for everyone to get their US Census form mailed today if they have not already done so.
Returning our United States Census forms before April 1, 2010, Census Day, will mean more money for our schools, hospitals, roads, and more. Every year, the federal government allocates more than $400 billion to states and communities based, in part, on census data.
If you live in the United States of America, you should have received your United States Census 2010 form during the month of March and this form is to be completed and returned before Census Day, April 1, 2010. If you fail to return your completed Census form, a Census taker will visit your household to take a count in person. It is only 10 Questions

A Little Background Information On The United States Census
A Brief History and Purpose of the United States Census from the U.S. Census Bureau

The first census took place in 1790, more than a year after George Washington's inauguration. The results of that very first census showed that the U.S. population totaled approximately 3.9 million and the largest cities were New York, NY; Philadelphia, PA; and Boston, MA. In 2000, the total population of the United States was 281,421,906 which was a 13.1% increase from the previous census.
The purpose of the census was to determine the number of seats each state would have in the U.S. House of Representatives. The census also was created to gain a better understanding of where people lived and to establish patterns of settlement as the nation grew. The census is required under Article 1 Section 2 of the United States Constitution and is to be taken every 10 years.

- The 2010 Census is now winding up with only 2 more short operations that will finnish up in August. Current hiring is only for present or former Census workers who have served in other operations. Most positions have ended or are drastically cut back.
If you have not received a questionaire or had an enumerator visit, you can still be counted by calling:
1 866 872-6868, choose "0" and then option "2" and you will be able to talk to a real person. All information given for the Census is used only by the Census. No information is passed on to any other agency or law enforcement.
How do I know, you may ask. Well, I would tell you that today I finished up 8 months of service with the 2010 Census.
Hey Nancy, I just found this link over at Susie's and wasn't surprised that it led me to you.

- Recently, I found the 2010 Census form hanging on my door. As I began filling it out, I came across a dilemma. The U.S. government wants to know if my children are adopted or not and it wants to know what our races are. Being adopted myself, I had to put ?Other? and ?Don't Know Adopted? for my race and ?Other? and ?Don't Know? for my kids' races.
Can you imagine not knowing your ethnicity, your race? Now imagine walking into a vital records office and asking the clerk for your original birth certificate only to be told ?No, you can't have it, it's sealed.?
How about being presented with a ?family history form? to fill out at every single doctor's office visit and having to put ?N/A Adopted? where life saving information should be?
Imagine being asked what your nationality is and having to respond with ?I don't know?.
It is time that the archaic practice of sealing and altering birth certificates of adopted persons stops.
Adoption is a 5 billion dollar, unregulated industry that profits from the sale and redistribution of children. It turns children into chattel who are re-labeled and sold as ?blank slates?.
Genealogy, a modern-day fascination, cannot be enjoyed by adopted persons with sealed identities. Family trees are exclusive to the non-adopted persons in our society.
If adoption is truly to return to what is best for a child, then the rights of children to their biological identities should NEVER be violated. Every single judge that finalizes an adoption and orders a child's birth certificate to be sealed should be ashamed of him/herself.
I challenge all readers: Ask the adopted persons that you know if their original birth certificates are sealed.
