What Is The Definition Of A Recession?
An ecomonic recession is broadly defined as a downturn in the GDP (gross domestic product) of a nation for at least two successive quarters, ie 6 months.
What's the difference between a recession and a depression?
If the GDP of a country drops by at least 10% then this can be classed as a depression. By these standards, the last depression America suffered was The Great Depression in the 1930's.
