Buy Used Propane Tanks Online

Buying a used propane tank can save you a great deal of money over a purchase of a new one. When you get right down to it, the only thing that is generally wrong with a used tank is that it may have a small dent or two, and it may need a paint job to make it look new again.

New tanks, depending of course on the size tank you are looking for, can run into more than a thousand dollars or even more than that as the tanks get bigger in size. When you buy a used tank from a dealer, they are generally inspected for safety, and they will usually be completely refurbished such as a new paint job, new valves etc ultimately making them just as good as a brand new one.

You can usually buy tanks directly from the supplier of the gas that you will use to fill them, but you may also find them at farm supply stores as well. Smaller sized tanks such as a 20 lb tank can be purchased from many stores such as a home supply store, or one that has a lawn and garden center. Most of these locations will have a rack that you can trade your empty tank for one that is filled.

These tanks are used as well, but the difference is every time a new tank they get a trade in, they take it back to the shop where it is fully inspected by a qualified person who will then take care of any issues with the tank. This is generally very economical so if you have a tank that you are not sure about, you can trade it in and get another, and the gas company will inspect and repair where necessary. In the end, you have a perfectly good used propane tank, full of gas too.

Additional Information On Buying A Propane Tank

When you buy propane tanks, there are several things that you will need to take into consideration. The most obvious of the considerations of course is the tank size. What is the tank being used for? The buying decision is easy when you are purchasing a new tank for your grill or other small device that uses propane but it can be a horse of a different color when you are talking about propane tanks large enough to heat your house, or even to cook with.

For the larger tanks, they generally come in capacities of 250, 500 and 1000 gallons. These would be the sizes used when you are using propane to heat and cook with. These tanks can be purchased directly from the gas company or from a distributor, and pricing will vary depending on the type of package that you purchase. Essentially, the size of the tank will determine the cost of course, but in addition, there may be installation charges, delivery charges, etc, unless of course you pick up the tank and install it yourself.

Some vendors will deliver the tank for you free of charge, so it pays to shop around a little before finally settling on whom to make your purchase from. Depending on where it is you live, the tank may have to be delivered to you regardless; this is especially so in a case where the tank has to be ordered.

Now, when we talk about the smaller tanks, these will of course be more readily available at local stores, such as home stores, hardware stores etc. The primary consideration with these tanks is the application they will be used for. The fittings, or nozzles are universal on all tanks, but the size that you purchase will depend on if you are using the tank for grilling, or another purpose.
