Used car auction is a means of buying and selling a car that has been
used for some time. A buyer participates in such auction to own an old model car which at present might be out of market or simply wants to own a car for a very low price.

Guide for buyers

(1) Reach the auction house early so that you have enough time to look,
choose and examine carefully the car you want to purchase;

(2) Before participating in auction buy a catalog and fix your budget;

(3) Look out for the amount of tax, insurance premium and license fee
you have to pay;

(4) Choose two to three types of cars so that you win auction in one
or the other;

(5) Before you actually bid watch a few auctions to have a clear idea
about how to go about it;

(6) Read carefully the car descriptions which will include faults, test
report or something like 'As Seen';

(7) Have a look at the vehicle logbook which will contain records like
year of purchase, mile run, history of repair etc.;

(8) Think about getting your chosen car inspected by a mechanic before
auction. Spending a little now may save you from spending a lot in
near future;

(9) Check the vehicle identification number on the engine, dashboard,
chassis etc. All these should exactly match and none is altered.

(10) Verify that the seller's name mentioned in the driver's license
is the same as that in registration book;

(11) Before you leave the auction house with a car don't forget to
collect the sale letter, all sets of keys, registration book and all
other documents of the car;

(12) Check for history of the vehicle in web-based databases before
purchase, better if you carry a handheld device that can surf the
net during auction and also after 30 days from buying date; this
save you from buying a car that was damaged in a disaster or
natural calamity;
