With the very fine manufactures of the mobility scooter industry, the scooters are made to last a very long time. There are a few items you should consider just normal wear and tear and not be concerned if you may need to replace some of the mobility scooter parts.

If the mobility scooter battery is dead, do not be overly concerned. The battery is made to be recharged and perhaps this scooter has just been in storage and not been charged. Most people selling the scooter will try to make sure the battery is charged, but not everyone would think of this. Do check for the charger, and try to give it a few minutes to charge, just to give you an idea that everything is okay. But even if for some reason you can not recharge the battery, do not be overly concerned. The mobility scooter battery can be replaced and even upgraded. Most manufactures have designed the scooters with space to upgrade to a larger battery, so if you would like to, now would be a good time for this.

The tires on the mobility scooter may be out of round, but this would just be from sitting in one spot. After several minutes of rolling, the tires will come back to the round. There are basically three different types of tires for the electric mobility scooter. The pneumatic tire is a lot like the tires on some of our vehicles. They have air in them and need to be maintained for the air pressure. These tires will go flat if they are punctured. Check the tire if it is flat just to see if the air needs to be adjusted. There is a solid tire that will not require the maintenance of air pressure but will give up a a little of the softer ride of the pneumatic tire. There is also a foam tire that sort of has the best of both before mentioned tires. A softer ride without the air. The tires can be upgraded like almost every other part on the scooter. Just keep in mind where the scooter will be used and the tires can be changed if you need to, with different styles and thread. The smoother, smaller tires will be used more for inside and on the level terrain such as payment and shopping malls. The larger, rougher tires will be best for the outdoor terrain.

The seat is very important to the user of the mobility scooter. Most will offer features like swivel seat, the arm rests can be lifted or adjusted if the user has to slide in and out of the seat. There are a large amount of accessories in the medical and personal upgrades if you need them to make this scooter really a part of the user. Things like a oxygen tank holder or just a cup holder might be just what the person needs.

Take a little time to figure out what the user needs and how they will mostly be using the scooter. You may find that if you do need to make a few upgrades or adjustments, the used mobility scooter might be the thing for you.
