Why Buy Used Video Games?
Used Video Games are great way to beat the credit crunch and still play great games.

With lots of things there is a stigma to 'buying used'. Used cars, used clothes even used toys are all seen as second class, but this shouldn't be the same for used video games. Used video games are a great idea and can help you save loads of money while still playing great games.
Here are 6 good reasons to buy Used Video Games:
- Used video games are often hardly used at all.
Video games generally don't get worn out. In use the disc/cartridge is kept safely in the console and the instructions and case are likely to be untouched. More often than not, used video games are like new! - You don't have time to play all of the new games as they are released so why pay for them?
It would be great to buy all the latest games as soon as they're released, but most people wouldn't have time to play them all. Just buy games one at a time and pick up the others a few weeks or months later. There'll be plenty of used bargains available by then. - You can sell used video games again for the price you paid!
If you buy a used video game at a good price then you will probably be able to sell it on in a few months time for about the same price you paid for it. Using this method it is actually possible to not spend any more money and play all of your games effectively for free! - You can get really recent game titles if you hunt around.
The hard-core gamers will complete games in a matter of days and need to sell their games on just to fund their gaming habit. You can benefit by buying their games! - Some great games just aren't available new any more.
Some great games have long since stopped being produced and buying them used is the only way to find them. Be careful as this can drive prices upwards, but keep hunting and you'll find a bargain. - Some games weren't worth full price.
There are some games that nobody buys because they aren't good enough to justify the asking price, but often they are worth playing for a few pounds. If a game provided an evening's entertainment for you and your friends and you paid just £10 for it then you might think it was worth it, but you would probably be unhappy to have paid £40.

Buying used video games on eBay

The great thing about eBay is that there are so many games available. This means there is lots of choice, but also means you have a good chance of grabbing a bargain.
For the latest bargains and advice go to our website at www.usedvideogame.co.uk, but the following tips should help get you started:
Tips for buying used video games on eBay
- Search in the right section.
This may sound obvious, but most people simply type the item they are looking for in to the search box. In the case of video games this can mean you miss a number of auctions (and it's these auctions where you have a good chance of finding a bargain).
If you are searching for Beowolf for PS3 then search for 'Beowolf' in the PS3 section rather than 'Beowolf PS3'. Including 'PS3' in the search means the auction must include PS3 in the name. - Look at the recently posted 'Buy It Now' auctions.
Rather than only looking at the auctions that have a few minutes left, go right to the other end of the list and view the recently posted auctions. Its here that you might be lucky and find a 'Buy It Now' auction that has been posted at a low price. These don't stay around for long so you have to snap them up if you see them. Sellers may have chosen different lengths for their auctions to run so also look around 3,5,7 and 10 days for recently posted auctions. - Use eBay's 'Bid Assistant'.
Because there are so many games available you can afford to let the expensive ones go. Decide how much you want to pay (see the guide on our main website) and then use 'Bid Assistant' to place this bid on lots of auctions. Bid Assistant will bid on multiple auctions at your chosen amount until you win an auction so you only win 1 game!
Game bundles are great value!
One of the best ways to grab a bargain is to buy a bundle of games from eBay. Most buyers just want to buy a single game so you've cut down your competition straight away and have more chance to win the auction.Even though you may not like every game in the bundle, fear not, just resell the ones you don't want. If you resell most of the games you'll get most of your money back!

Selling video games on eBay
The fact that there are so many games available on eBay means you need to make your game stand out from the crowd. For the latest techniques and advice go to our website at www.usedvideogame.co.uk, but the following tips should help get you started: Tips for getting the best price when selling video games on eBay
- Make sure you game is in mint condition.
There are so many games on eBay that yours needs to be in great condition to get top price. Just take care of it while you use it and you'll protect your investment. - Use a picture on your add and make it a good one!
Again this may seem obvious, but a picture makes all the difference. Buyers want to see what they are buying and the condition it is in. Rather than just the front of the box why not show the contents so buyers can see the manual and disc are there and looking good? - Write a good description.
You pay the same fee for an advert with a good description as you do for an advert with a bad description so you may as well make it good! Make it clear and if the game is in excellent condition then say so. Also, if you are selling more than one game in separate auctions then link to your others with the 'see my other items' link. - Choose a good time for your auction to end.
There is much debate as to what the best time is to have your eBay auction end. However if we are dealing with video games that interest a younger market then we are talking about evenings and weekends, with Sunday evenings perhaps being the best. Whatever time you choose, avoid awkward times like 3am etc.

- Good tips. I buy used games for my son at a local store because they'll let you exchange it in the first week if you don't like it.
