Microsoft Excel is one of the most useful programs to have on your computer. If you are an organization nut like me, Microsoft Excel is a must-have. Many unfamiliar computer users think of Excel as a complicated finance spreadsheet. That couldn't be any farther from the truth. Here are some practical uses for Microsoft Excel.
For all of you nutrition nuts out there, Excel's spreadsheet works great for logging all of your meals. Using Excel, you can create sheets for each week of a month for easy comparison. Include column headings for servings, calories, fat, carbs, protien etc. Fill rows in with the specific food and time of consumption. You're all set with a quick and easy eating log.
-Workout Routine
You can use this along with your nutrition log to make sure you're health is where you want it to be. Put your weekly workout in Excel's spreadsheet, using different sheets for days of the week or specific body parts. You can headline your columns with reps and weight for weight training. Use rows to list the specific exercise. This also works with cardio workouts as you can track time, intensity and calories burned for different workouts.
-Personal Finances
Keep track of personal monthly finances with Microsoft Excel. You can use the spreadsheet to organize you're monthly income versus monthly expenses to create an optimal budget. In addition, don't forget to include due dates so you don't make any late payments!
-Price Comparisons
Great for the bargain shopper. Create a spreadsheet for a particular product, lets say a car. In the columns, you can make headings for miles, price, color, features, etc. For the rows, you can put the type of car and the location. This works especially well because you can see all of these comparisons together.
-Contact Information
If you don't have a modern cell phone to include this information or you just want a back up copy for your home, Excel is great for keeping contact information. You can make separate sheets for work relations, friends, family, club members etc. You can include columns for a contact's home phone number, cell phone number, workplace number, e-mail address, fax number and screen name.
