The U.S. Open... Golf's Toughest Test?
As one of golf's four "majors", The U.S. Open is one of the most prestigious championships... and arguably golf's toughest test.
Many of the game's greatest players have captured this coveted title, including Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Lee Trevino, and Hale Irwin.
The event is open to professionals and amateurs with a Handicap Index of 1.4 or lower. The U.S. Open is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the USGA, 10 of which are strictly for amateurs.

The US Open at Oakmont Country Club... The Course
The Course:The 2007 competition will be held at Oakmont Country Club in the suburbs of Pittsburgh.
Few venues in the world of golf have the championship tradition of Oakmont.
And on Sunday, April 22nd, Tiger took his first look at Oakmont Country Club as he began preparations for the U.S. Open.
The U.S. Open, to be played June 13-16, returns to Oakmont for the first time since 1994. It is one of the few classic championship courses in the United States that Woods had not played. He first qualified for the U.S. Open in 1995 as an amateur.
Woods said he thought Oakmont as a members' course was far tougher than Winged Foot, where last year he missed the cut for the first time in a major as a pro.
Oakmont Country Club has hosted more major Championships than any other course in the U.S., including seven United States Opens, five U.S. Amateurs, three PGA Championships, and one U.S. Women's Open.
Oakmont remains one of the most difficult courses in North America, with 180 deep bunkers, hard and slick greens that slope away from the player, and tight fairways.
Oakmont was the site of "the greatest round of the 20th century": Johnny Miller's final round of 63 at the 1973 U.S. Open.
Golf Digest ranks Oakmont #4 in its most recent version of America's Top 100 courses.

Vote for Your Favorite US Open Future Venue
Wow... what a list of upcoming courses for the US Open... Torrey Pines, Pebble Beach, Bethpage Black, Congressional, Olympic... and a trip back in time to Marion.
My personal vote: Marion. I grew up in the Philadelphia area, it's a classic old course... and it means I experienced all the US Opens before it!
