Doodlebug on Sentry Duty

I finally bit the bullet and bought a camera. I don't know much about cameras, and especially the latest: Digital cameras. I probably know even less about taking good photographs or being artistic or creative. I do know that I love animals. All animals. I love their expressions. I especially love my "baby girl", Doodlebug. (Along with her litter mates, she was rescued on the doorstep of an emergency vet clinic in Nashville TN. She was the runt, and she was completely hand raised from just a few days old.) This is one of the first shots of Doodlebug with my new camera. I intended to shoot her as she looked into the lens. Of course, there is a delay with most digital cameras. (I wasn't aware of this at the time I pressed that little button.) Though I was disappointed that I didn't get a shot of her gorgeous blue eyes, I eventually came to love this shot. Though I still have much to learn about photography, this has become one of my favorites of all my photos. This photo is featured in the 2007 book "Visual Inspirations" published by the International Library of Photography.

Cute Cats

Beautiful, perfect creatures

I love cats. I could look at them for hours. (Okay, I may be exaggerating.) But, take a look at the shape of a cat's head. Look at their expressive eyes and their sensitive whiskers. They are agile animals, and they are attuned to every little thing going on around them. I think it's amazing that God gave us such a wonderful creature. For those who aren't convinced and call cats "too aloof" or "too independent", we cat people (and cats) wonder if you could be jealous. Wouldn't it be great to be like a cat?
