Utah Soothing Touch Massage Therapy

My name is Gail Fletcher, and I will be showing you the ropes about Utah Massage Therapy.  I have a website that you can find plenty of massage products at, which will enhance your massage experience.  I am a big supporter of Wikipedia and environmentalism, which is why I have some info about both on my lens.

About Me

I attended Provo College where I graduated in the spring of 2003. I completed my National Certification through the NCBTMB in 2003 and Utah state licensing in 2004. I am also a member of the AMTA. I have been practicing massage therapy for 3 years. I started working at Heavenly Touch Massage as an independent therapist in January of 2005 and moved to A Better Salon in September of 2006. In February of 2007 I opened my own office in Orem, which is where my current practice is located. I specialize in Swedish massage and seated chair massage. My touch ranges anywhere from a light, relaxing massage, to deep, therapeutic pressure. I also have experience in Chinese cupping, aromatherapy, and lymphatic drainage massage.

Massage is the practice of soft tissue manipulation with physical (anatomical), functional (physiological), and in some cases psychological purposes and goals.Definition of massage, Prescottlmt.com The word comes from the French massage "friction of kneading", or from Arabic massa meaning "to touch, feel or handle" or from Latin massa meaning "mass, dough".Online Etymology Dictionary, massageMerriam Webster Dictionary Online, massage An older etymology may even have been the Hebrew me-sakj "to anoint with oil". In distinction the ancient Greek word for massage was anatripsis, and the Latin was frictio.

Massage involves acting on and manipulating the body with pressure - structured, unstructured, stationary, or moving - tension, motion, or vibration, done manually or with mechanical aids. Target tissues may include muscles, tendons, ligaments, skin, joints, or other connective tissue, as well as lymphatic vessels, or organs of the gastrointestinal system. Massage can be applied with the hands, fingers, elbows, knees, forearm, and feet. There are over eighty different recognized massage modalities. The most cited reasons for introducing massage as therapy have been client demand and perceived clinical effectiveness. 13 (4) pp.471-475

In professional settings massage involves the client being treated while lying on a massage table, sitting in a massage chair, or lying on a mat on the floor. The massage subject may be fully or partly unclothed. Parts of the body may be covered with towels or sheets.

Massages are so relaxing and soothing! Part of the experience in many parlors is aromatherapy! There are many massage therapists that like to use scented massage oils and even burn scented candles! A major staple in Aromatherapy, Lavender is also a favored scent. It has the reputation of being one of the best smelling, stress-relieving, softens skin and soothes the lungs when inhaling!
You can check out the link above if you want, it has a good little snippet about lavender benefits!
