Make an Informed Choice
To vaccinate your children or not is an intensely personal issue. You owe it to your family to learn what is being said so that you can make an informed choice.
We Love Good Doctors
My grandson Asher would not have survived without them.
Before I go any farther, I want to make sure you understand that this is not a rant against doctors. If you break your leg, you had better hope there is a doctor who can help you. They are excellent for trauma cases and diagnosing what ails you. But, science is advancing every day and no one is able to stay on top of it all. In addition, much of their continuing education is financed by pharmaceutical companies who are in business to sell drugs. Once a doctor diagnoses what is wrong with you, in most cases, the next step is to write a prescription. It's up to you to decide if you are going to follow their advice or go a different route and that means that you are going to have to educate yourself. When my children were little, I didn't question vaccinations. The doctor recommended them and since I had received some as a child, I simply followed his lead. However, I went to the pediatrition's office when my daughter took her infant son and I couldn't believe how many shots they wanted to give him starting with Hepatitis B at 1 month! Consider this. This child's parents are free of Hep B. No one in the family has it and he is definitely not sexually active. What could possibly be the reason to give this little tyke that shot? When my daughter refused, they acted like she was committing child abuse and was a very poor mother. It was only because she had researched the issue and determined in advance what she felt was best for her children that she stood her ground.
Please note: If you decide to vaccinate your children but want to give them a chance to grow up first, some doctors are recommending a more relaxed schedule that begins the shots after your child turns 2 and gives them one at a time so that if there is a reaction, you know what is causing the problem. Vitamin D
Did you know Vitamin D has proven more effective than a flu shot?
My Family Doctor
My family is under the care of a good chiropractor. Now before you turn your nose up because he is not a MD, you should know that he has had as much schooling as a medical doctor and practices what he preaches. In addition, he is a strong Christian. He is highly against vaccinating children and has raised all of his (6) without shots.Dr. John says that God has created our body with certain defense systems. There is a reason that your stomach is acidic, your nose has hair in it and mucous, etc. Our bloodstream is not our first line of defense and yet that is exactly where shots are delivered. In addition to that, most people allow their infants to be given shots when their immune systems aren't yet fully developed. These are physiological factors and don't even deal with the effectiveness of what is in that shot.
Now if he were the only one saying this, I might think the good doctor was a little off but there are more and more voices being raised with valid concerns over this issue. Don't you think you owe it to your children to look at both sides of this issue?
Now It's Your Turn
If you have read this far, you must have some opinions stirring. Here's the place for you to share what you think.
Are vaccinations safe and effective?
Fetching blurbs now... please stand byYes, There is nothing wrong with them and I will give them as my doctor advises.
Jimmie says:
It's not just a choice for your family but an entire community and really the world. Why have so many disease been practically eradicated (at least in the Western World)? Because of vaccinations.
My entire family takes all the shots we can. We live abroad and are surely exposed to many diseases. It's pure foolishness for a family in our position NOT to.
Postponing vaccines may be a possibility, but not taking them altogether seems risky.

It is a sensitive issue, and there are some severe personal health risks to vaccines, however small the probability. However, this is sometimes a public health issue that overwhelms some rights.
Of course, for new vaccines, the issues are more gray and the public need is less compelling, but for well-established vaccines for diseases that are the gravest risk to public health, I have no problem with mandatory vaccines.
But I understand this is a balancing act of the good of the many versus civil rights, and sympathize with the views of those who disagree.

Stazjia says:
I disagree that it is a personal issue. By more and more parents not having their children vaccinated, there are more cases of these diseases than there have been for some years. It is only a very small number of children who die from them and a small number who are personally disabled in some way as a side effect but, if it's your child, then you have to live with the decision you made not to vaccinate. If it's your child that infects another one who dies or suffers severe side effects, that is on your conscience.
Peer reviewed scientific studies show that the established vaccines are safe. If other contradictory studies are not submitted for review by their peers, there is no proof of their veracity.
If you are a believer in God, then you must believe that He created the viruses. Why can't you believe He also gave us the intelligence and inspiration to come up with ways to fight them?
As for a chiropractor studying for as long as a doctor, he might well spend as many years as an MD learning but he isn't studying and training in the same courses as a medical doctor. I might go to a chiropractor if I had problems with my spine but not if I had measles, cancer or pneumonia.

No (or not sure), I am either not giving them or am looking for more information before I decide.
Gandree says:
Not long ago they recommended 10 shots, now it's 24. That is a lot to lay on an immature immune system. I tend to agree with the pediatricians who delay shots until after 2 years and give them one at a time with no preservatives involved.

The most important issue to me is not whether vaccines are safe or effective-- the studies are still out on that-- but whether they should be mandatory and my opinion is that if a parent has any reservations whatsoever then they should NOT be pressured into giving their children vaccinations.

NO! Most of the diseases in the modern Western world were already on the tail end of a decline thanks to better sanitation, better health practices, better food choices etc, and then along came vaccinations; people thought the vaccinations were what caused the diseases to be eradicated. DEAD WRONG! They do much more harm than good. Sorry folks!

I have personally chosen Not to vaccinate my 21 month old son and will follow course with my next child, due in February. I initially delayed vaxing just because I was unsure of the benefits vs. the risks to my child, but as I took the time to dig into the research on sites such as Dr. Mercola's and Dr.Tenpenny's (www.nmaseminars.com/) exposing the ugly side of vaccinating, my resolve to not vax solidified. I have instead chosen to boost my family's immune systems with plenty of outdoor exercise and good nutrition, including extended breast feeding...which is the way I feel God intended it to be.
As a little FYI: a baby's nervous system is still developing after birth and continues at a rapid rate until roughly the age of 2. 80% of brain development will have taken place during that time which could be impaired by the routine administration of pollutants and heavy metals found in vaccines. If a parent has done the research and decides to vaccination will still benefit their child, I believe it is best to delay vaxing until after the age of 2.

As I said, it's a sensitive issue. Depends on the chiropractor - does he just adjust backs or promote a whole health lifestyle. It's not a matter of just vaccinating your child. You have to take active steps to build their healthy immune system as well. The WHO has said the best immunization is a healthy diet and they promote shots.
As for spreading the disease, it's more likely that an immunized child would infect an non-immunized one than vice versa.
