Welcome to the Wonderful World Of Vacuums!
All you've ever wanted to know about vacuums is right here. Step into a world that really sucks (and where really sucking is a good thing)! Check out http://www.vacuum-home.com for more information.
Install: It's no problem at all!
Central Vacuum Cleaners
Vacuuming will always be convenient with a central vacuum system because the power unit is permanent. To start vacuuming with a central vacuum, one just plugs the hose into one of the handy inlets installed in various places throughout the home. The power button is located on the handle on a power brush. For even more added convenience, an optional automatic dustpan can also be installed into a home with a central vacuuming system. The central vacuum system's automatic dustpan allows debris to be quickly swept into a wall vent using a broom. The fine dust particles aren't released back into the living spaces because they are sucked back to the remote receptacle.
There are two types of central vacuum systems. They are:
%u2022 Filtered: these use a variety of filters to clean the air taken in by the vacuum. The filters will still need to be cleaned and replaced.
%u2022 Cyclonic: these use centrifugal tornado-like force and gravity to separate the impurities from the air being taken in by the vacuum and deposits the dirt into a canister.
There are two easy ways to dispose of the dust and debris that ends up in the receptacle in the central location with a central vacuum system. One way is to use a disposable bag. After it is full it just needs to be tossed into the garbage. The other way is to use a canister. After the canister has reached its limit, it simply needs to be dumped and cleaned. With both ways the debris needs to be disposed of much less often than with a portable vacuum cleaner. They only need to be emptied an average of once every three months with a central vacuum system.
Central vacuum systems make your home value go up because it is so valuable and convenient. They also prolong the life of carpet, drapes and furniture because it cleans so deeply. They are also often more powerful than standard vacuums because of the remote location of the motor and collector. They also have a larger capacity and because the motor is in that remote location, the central vacuum system is less noisy than a standard vacuum as well.
So with all the convenience the central vacuum system brings, why not install?
Wet/Dry Vacuums
They're a Sucker for Spills!
Wet/dry vacuums are large canister type vacuums that are useful in a garage or workshop as well as in the home. Some are able to pick up large amounts of liquid spills and construction debris that would ruin a regular vacuum. They can be kept in the garage to help clean out your car or used in the home to help clean out clogged sinks. Some of these vacuums can even help you drain a couple of feet of water from your basement!
Wet/dry vacuum cleaners come in various sizes and gallon capacities. Some of them are:
Wall mount vacuum cleaners: good for quick, easy cleanups such as spills. These can be hung on a wall for easy storage.
Six gallon vacuum cleaners: These are good for smaller jobs. They are easy to maneuver and easier to store than larger models. They do fill quicker than larger models and require frequent emptying.
High capacity models: These are made for use in workshops or garages or anywhere large spills occur. The large capacity tanks on these lowers the need for emptying these very often.
To take a look at some wet/dry vacuums you can try looking around on the internet. One site I find to be useful is www.vacuum-home.com/wet-dry-vacuums.
There are two different types of filters used in wet/dry vacuums. There is a pleated filter that is reusable and can be rinsed. There is also a flat filter that needs to be removed when switching from dry to wet vacuum function. The pleated filer has a better filtration area than the flat filter.
There are some features that are available on a lot of these vacuum cleaners. One feature is the automatic shut off device which shuts the motor off automatically if the tank becomes full of water. This prevents the vacuum from overflowing. Some wet/dry vacuum cleaners come equipped with wide set wheels that prevent the unit from tipping over. Some also have a built in pump attachment that allows the water to be pumped through garden hose that attaches to the vacuum.
If the wet/dry vacuum has a drain valve or spout it makes emptying the vacuum much easier. If it is a smaller unit, it probably won't have a drain valve and then to empty the unit you must remove the lid and tip the vacuum over.
If you want to double your cleaning fun, wet/dry vacuums are two cleaners in one!

Some people need to be able to clean wet and dry spills with one vacuum cleaner. With a wet/dry vacuum it's possible!
For a Deeper Clean, Try Vapor Steam!
Steam Cleaners
The way steam cleaners work is that they take regular tap water and transform it into fine, dry, high-pressured steam that is heated to two-hundred forty to two hundred sixty degrees Fahrenheit. This means that you probably shouldn't use a steam cleaner on heat sensitive materials. The steam in the steam cleaner is used to dislodge and dissolve the dirt and grease on the surface. Steam cleaners loosen the dirt in carpet fibers. The dirt rises to the surface where it is absorbed by a towel affixed to an attachment on the steam cleaner.
Harmful germs and 98% of dust mites are killed with the use of steam cleaners. Dry steam penetrates the pores of any material being cleaned and kills dust mites, viruses, molds and fungi. This means that steam cleaners reduce allergens while being kind to the environment. You'll immediately notice a freshness of the air in your home after using a steam cleaner.
Steam cleaners heat up in minutes and most provide thirty minutes of continuous steam. Less than a gallon of tap water is used in an hour's worth of cleaning with a steam cleaner. Low moisture vapor is used which means that a steam cleaner will leave virtually no damp residue on the surface that has been cleaned. Some come with a shoulder strap and a detachable steam unit so that the unit is more portable. These features of a steam cleaner make the cleaning of hard to reach areas easier.
Steam cleaning, it's just right for deep and ecologically friendly cleaning.
Vacuum Cleaner Filters
Putting out Pollutants!
Vacuum cleaner filters are usually positioned so that the incoming air passes through it before it reaches the motor. There are different kinds of vacuum cleaner filters that are sometimes combined together in a single vacuum. Some of them are:
Vacuum cleaner bag: This is the first form of vacuum cleaner filter the dirt encounters in a bagged vacuum model. This vacuum cleaner filter captures the debris that is vacuumed up. This bag is usually made of paper or fabric that allows air to pass through but also attempts to trap all of the dust and debris in the bag.
Cyclonic separation: This is the first form of vacuum cleaner filter the dirt encounters in a bagless vacuum model. The dirty air that is taken in is cycled or spun so fast that the dust is forced out of the air and falls into a storage bin.
Water filtration: Some models of vacuums use water as a vacuum cleaner filter. The intake air passes through water before it is exhausted. The idea behind this form of vacuum cleaner filter is that wet dust cannot be airborne. The water vacuum cleaner filter separates out the debris that is water soluble and is effective. The water in these units must be dumped and the machine rinsed out after every use.
Ultra fine air filter: This vacuum cleaner filter is used as a secondary filter after the air has passed through the rest of the vacuum. This vacuum cleaner filter is meant to remove any remaining dust that could harm the operator. One very popular type of ultra fine air filter is the HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filter.
Having a vacuum cleaner filter is critical to the efficient suction and dirt handling ability of the vacuum. The vacuum cleaner filter keeps the dirt and grit from entering the critical mechanical parts of the vacuum. If dirt and grit did get into those parts, it would cause abrasion and premature part failure.
Keep in mind that many vacuum cleaner filters need to be replaced regularly. This cost of vacuum cleaner filters should be factored into the price of a vacuum cleaner. Some vacuums use washable vacuum cleaner filters that do not need to be replaces, which could save you a little money.
But, can you really put a price on your health and well-being?
Vacuum Bags
Where does all that dirt go?
In 1920, the Air Way Sanitizer Company of Ohio introduced the first disposable vacuum cleaner bag. The new disposable vacuum cleaner bag was made out of paper and was supposed to fit perfectly inside of the cloth bag. These new vacuum cleaner bags kept the inside of the cloth bag clean so less dust and debris could be blown out of the vacuum and into the home again.
The only problem with these new vacuum cleaner bags was that every vacuum manufacturer was making their own bags to fit their own vacuums. All of these none reusable vacuum cleaner bags were made out of various kinds of paper. Nowadays, things are a little more organized.
Vacuum cleaner bags are replaceable and also work as a filter that traps any kind of dirt and debris that is sucked in by the vacuum cleaner hose. Once the vacuum cleaner bag is filled, it has to be replaced by a new bag which is not a difficult task. All you have to do is unfasten the vacuum's compartment and check the vacuum cleaner bag. If the bag is fifty or sixty percent full, then it is time for it to be changed. There might even be an indicator light that tells you when it is time to be changed.
The advantages of having a vacuum that uses vacuum cleaner bags is that the bags are not expensive. The vacuum cleaner bags aren't messy either. You should never have to come into contact with the dirt. All you have to do is slip the bag out, throw the old bag away and put a new bag inside the vacuum cleaner.
Vacuum cleaner bags should be changed once a month. You may need to change the vacuum cleaner bag more often if:
-You are cleaning a large area that is more than 2000 square feet and has wall-to-wall carpets.
-Your carpet is new and will shed for a number of months.
-Your pets shed a lot.
Remember that your vacuum cleaner bag should be well-matched with the model of your vacuum cleaner. Vacuum cleaner bags have two types, the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) type and the Replacement type. The OEM is the type of vacuum cleaner bag that can be bought directly from the manufacturer. The Replacement type is the type of vacuum cleaner bag that is manufactured by third party manufacturers.
Vacuum cleaner bags: an easy, inexpensive way to get rid of your dirt!
