He's Freakin' Insane... In The Best Way Possible
Check Out All Of My Other Lenses!
Many pass Vai off as one of those guys that just tries to play as fast as he can, which is true of some of his older work, but if you really listen and understand, you will see the depth and artistry of his style. You will see this more prominently in his more recent work "Real Illusions: Reflections" which I consider to be the best compilation of guitar playing on any virtuoso album ever released. Vai is a veteran of Frank Zappa, Whitesnake, and David Lee Roth. He shows Eddie Van Halen a thing or two about playing with David Lee Roth on "Eat Em And Smile," where Vai comments on EVH's style, with a little hint of "I think this is what you were trying to do..." Not to trash on EVH he is a great guitarist as well as musician, but stepping in the ring with Vai only leaves one option, and that is being outclassed. Also a member of this dream team and currently touring in the Steve Vai Band world renown bassist, Billy Sheehan.
