Create special Valentine's Day tea bag wrappers as a lovely Valentine gift. This craft would also work well with packets of hot chocolate.Very young children can decorate a large envelope with stickers, cutouts and Valentine drawings. Place 4 to 6 wrapped tea bags into the envelope and tie a ribbon around the packet.
Older kids can create Valentine tea bag wrappers from construction paper to hold one teabag still in its original wrapper. Cut out hearts slightly larger than a tea bag packet from construction paper. Letter a greeting on the heart (You're My Cup of Tea for example) then staple a heart front and back to the tea bag envelope. Another version: create heart shapes to staple to the tea bag string tags, then enclose each heart-string tea bag in a Valentine tea bag wrapper.
Or, have kids create a Valentine bag topper from light card stock or construction paper. Make a pattern about 6 inches tall, and as wide as a sandwich or snack size plastic zip top bag. Fold in half lengthwise, then have kids decorate front and back of the topper card. Place a selection of wrapped tea bags into the plastic baggie, then staple the bag topper to the top of the baggie.

Ingredients
- Cardboard from recycled cereal or pasta boxes (any food product box will do)
- Tissue paper scraps (we used gift wrap tissue saved from Christmas gift packing)
- Masking tape
- White poster paint
- Foam paint brush
- Yarn or String
- Glitter glue
Instructions
How to make Valentine tissue paper heart ornaments
- Cut cardboard hearts out of the cartons; make the hearts any size you like. Our Valentine hearts measured approximately 5 inches tall.
- Tear tissue into strips about 1 inch wide, then tear strips into bits about an inch square. Squishing and shredding are okay.
- Attach a looped length of string, ribbon or yarn (12 inches long or so) to the blank cardboard side (unprinted side) of each heart with masking tape to make a hanger.
- Spread a coat of paint all over the printed side of the hearts.
- Sprinkle and press random bits of tissue paper bits all over the paint - it will act as glue - covering all the painted area.
- Allow hearts to dry, then squiggle on swirls of glitter glue over each heart. Add a few more bits of paper if you wish while the glitter glue is tacky. We did.
- Allow hearts to dry again, then decorate windows door knobs and bedposts with your lovely hanging Valentine heart ornaments.

5 Easy Valentine Crafts Made from 1 Heart Pattern
Use this simple free quilt-block heart coloring picture as a basic pattern for kids Valentine paper crafts. Print out the full page heart template , then follow one of these ideas to make a special Valentine craft:1. Glue bits of torn tissue paper, glitter, stickers or bits of yarn and ribbon into each section on the heart and border.
2. Write words of love or a poetic phrase in each section of the Valentine heart frame and add a personal message to the heart section, then color and embellish the design with markers or crayons.
3. Tape the heart pattern to a clean work surface, then cut a piece of clear contact paper to fit over the edges. Secure the contact paper with sticky side up. Lay torn pieces of red, white and pink tissue onto the contact paper using the design of the heart pattern underneath as a guide. When all areas have been covered, add another piece of contact paper on top of the tissue to seal the design between the contact paper sheets. Cut out the Heart Design to make a lovely window decoration.
4. Print the heart quilt block pattern onto red, pink and white card stock or onto patterned scrapbook paper (print on the back side of the papers). Cut out the individual pieces of the heart quilt block along the guide lines. Reassemble the heart design onto another sheet of card stock, mixing up the colors and patterns to make a paper quilt design.
5. Make paper embroidery hearts. Use the double heart part of the heart quilt block pattern design to make a punched hole pattern in the shape of a heart. Trim around the outer heart about 1/4" away from the line. Use a hand held paper punch to punch holes around the outside to create a heart lacing pattern. Space out the holes evenly between the lines. Thread a blunt needle with yarn or embroidery floss and stitch all around the edge using the holes. Glue the laced heart to a folded piece of card stock or construction paper to make a Valentine card.

My younger daughter made bath salts as a gift for me when she was in preschool - and then years later she made them for me again, when she was a budget-strapped college student!
Home made bath salts are easy to make and economical, plus they have no added chemicals and you can customize the fragrance. Make your natural bath salts extra special by adding a few drops of Mom's favorite fragrance or an essential oil to create a delightful aromatherapy experience.
Decorate small jars or canisters with a custom label, bits of lace and a ribbon, and you've got a lovely inexpensive Valentine's Day gift.
General Directions - Home Made Bath Salts
Mix up each batch of Bath Salts ingredients in a large glass or plastic bowl, then pack loosely into small jars (recycled baby food jars work great) or plastic bags with twist ties or zip tops.
Kids can use their hands to work the ingredients together.
Decorate the containers with a custom label or gift tag and bits of ribbon or lace, and you've got a lovely inexpensive home made gift perfect for Mother's Day.
Home Made Bath Salt Recipe
Mix ingredients in a large glass or plastic bowl, then pack into small jars or canisters (see instructions above).

2 drops of essential oil or perfume

Wash the jars and lids thoroughly, remove traces of old labels and dry well inside and out. Paint the lids if desired. Trace around the lid onto the wrong side of the fabric, then cut out a round of fabric or lace about 1 to 2 inches larger than the outline. Fill jar with bath salts, screw on the lid, then wrap the lid with a small piece of lace or fabric. You can add a drop of glue to the middle of the lid to tack the fabric into place if desired.
Cut a length of narrow ribbon or yarn and tie it tightly around the neck of the jar to gather the fabric into a ruffle and hold a tag (if desired). Glue a pretty label to the jar (or tie on a small gift card ). You can use desktop publishing software to design and print/letter your own label stickers that include bath salts instructions, ingredients and fragrance information.

Conversation Rocks Valentine Craft
Older kids can make "conversation rocks" for Valentine's Day from smooth stones decorated with Valentine words and phrases. These fun Valentine word stones make a unique Valentine gift or they could be used as a Valentine's Day party game.
If you don't have any smooth stones available - or the kids are likely to toss the stones around - you can use pieces of card stock, wooden blank shapes or craft foamies in heart shapes.
Here's how to make Valentine Conversation Rocks
Collect or purchase about two dozen smooth palm-sized stones. Wash, dry thoroughly and paint if desired. Write a romantic word on each stone with a colorful permanent marker - red or pink are fun and make the stones special for Valentine's Day.
If you want to save time, or if lettering is too difficult for kids, print out a sheet of Valentine words that will fit on the stones then cut the words apart and have kids glue one word to each stone. If you're using chip board, you could print out the words with hearts in the background to add a Valentine theme.
For added durability, coat stones with clear fingernail polish or craft sealer to preserve lettering.
After the conversation stones dry, place them all in a fabric bag or decorated Valentine gift box.

- What a goldmine of Valentine craft resources! I got a homemade Valentine's card in the mail yesterday, made by an adult friend who does rubber stamping. She said she just felt in the mood to make cards this year, so she did. So . . . even adults can enjoy many of these same crafts for Valentine's Day. (Where's my white paste that tastes like peppermint - do they still make that?) Congrats on your Lens of the Day!
