NEXT VALENTINE DAY: February 14, 2012

WHICH GIFTS TO GIVE

Gift which are given depend ondifferent individuals. Some opt for flowers while for others it could be jewels , clothes, handbags, belts, bracelet's and shoes to name just a few. Chocolate work out better to some lovers. In rare cases, lovers opt to go for an outing / dinner. Exchanging gifts is the theme of the day.

RED ROSES, TULIPS AND CHOCOLATES.

WHAT IT ALL MEANS

Flowers; like rose and tulips are exchanged at a bigger rate during this loving day. Each flower has its unique meaning. This meaning is mostly based on the different colors. A red rose shows/portray one lover's beauty; if you appreciate your valentine's beauty then a red rose is in a way appreciating his or her beauty. Give a red rose to beautify him or her. There is no better way of expressing a deep feeling for your valentine than using a red rose. Red and valentine are twins. Do you want to express uncorrupted love, use tulips. Tulips are a symbol of uncorrupted and perfect love! As a surprise chocolates will do the trick.

MAN OR WOMAN, WHAT GIFT DO YOU BUY?

Man would you like to make a lady happy, then try golden earrings, bracelets and rings or anything golden. This will make your valentine very happy and for a long time. Ladies men like machines, electronics, and watches. Last time my wife bought me a watch and I can tell you that I was over myself. Mesmerize your man with a Cartier Midsize and he will never forget. Another toy your man will like for is the new Kindle. A camera or a HDTV is another choice.

CAPTAIN CORELLI'S MANDOLIN BOOK

WATCHING THE MOVIE IS GREAT PLUS YOU CAN AS WELL CATCH UP MORE BY READING THE BOOK

Editorial Reviews of Captain Corelli's Mandolin

By Amazon

Editorial Reviews
Amazon.com
With this lavish follow-up to Shakespeare in Love, director John Madden proves himself a worthy craftsman of literary films, and while Captain Corelli's Mandolin may frustrate admirers of Louis de Bernières's densely detailed novel, it's a tastefully old-fashioned adaptation, preserving the novel's flavor while focusing on its love story set against the turbulence of World War II. Set on the Greek island of Cephallonia, the drama begins in 1940 with occupation by Italian troops, awkwardly allied with the Nazis and preferring hedonistic friendliness over military intimidation. That attitude is most generously embodied by Captain Corelli (Nicolas Cage), who is instantly drawn to the Greek beauty Pelagia (Penélope Cruz) despite her engagement to Mandras (Christian Bale), a resistance fighter whose absence leaves Pelagia needy for affection. Mandras's eventual return--and the inevitable attack by German bombers and ground troops--threaten to stain this Greek-Italian romance with deeply tragic bloodshed.
Accompanied by pensive serenades from the captain's cherished mandolin, the film charts the unlikely attraction of Corelli and Pelagia, whose wizened physician father (splendidly played by John Hurt) fears for the worst. Their love is uneasy (and Cage's miscasting doesn't help), but the island's beguiling atmosphere is as seductive to them as it is to the viewer, thus making the outbreak of violence--and a climactic earthquake--jarringly traumatic. Emphasizing nobility in war and the many definitions of love, the story's wartime context intensifies the film's admirable depth of emotion. Faults will be found by anyone who's looking for them, but Captain Corelli's Mandolin remains a sensuous, richly layered film that die-hard romantics will find hard to resist. --Jeff Shannon

CAPTAIN CORELLI'S MANDOLIN

THIS IS AN ACCLAIMED ROMANCE ABOUT A BEAUTIFUL, STRONG-WILLED GREEK WOMAN WHOSE HEART IS CAPTURED BY AN IRREPRESSIBLE ITALIAN OFFICER WITH A PASSION FOR MUSIC.

One of the most memorable books I've read, March 17, 2000

Captain Corelli's Mandolin Book Review by one of the customers

On the island, I have heard that Louis desBernieres only actually spent a few days here doing research. I found this so hard to believe.
Through his words and the pictures he paints in the mind, you are transported to this most wonderful place. I felt Mandras' and Corelli's pain as they endured horrific events as the war unfolds. I dislike war novels of any kind, but this work brings the human element into play in a way that it would be as though your brother or a friend were at war -- you would hang on every word for information.
The love story is brilliant -- until the very end. The ending is too quickly "tacked on" and detracts significantly from the excellent quality of the writing. It is also one of those "too good to be true" endings. However, put this aside and create your own ending, because the rest of the work -- the language, the plot, characterizations, are so masterfully crafted that my disappointment at the ending was tempered by the memories of these great characters.
Louis desBernieres created a moving, wonderful book out of an obscure topic with regard to WWII, very few people out there are aware of the war atrocities committed in Greece.
I am most worried that once the film is released, that our family's island paradise will be inundated with tourists! Cephallonia is truly one of the most unusually different, most hauntingly beautiful and least visited Greek islands. I would love it if it were always so, but it is inevitable that because of this book, there will be a great interest garnered in visiting. If you do manage to make it over here, enjoy -- but respect the islanders and the environment, please (especially the beaches, which are unparalleled in Greece)!

CITY OF ANGELS

CAN YOU IMAGINE AN ANGEL FALLING IN LOVE AND HE CHOSES LOVE NO MATTER WHAT IT WILL COST HIM. HIS CHOICE IS SIMPLE LOVE OR IMMORTALITY

Editorial Reviews on City of Angels

By Amazon

Some critics complained that City of Angels could never compare to Wim Wenders's exquisite German film Wings of Desire, which served as the later film's primary inspiration. The better argument to make is that any such comparisons are beside the point, because Wings of Desire was a much more deeply poetic, artfully contemplative film, whereas City of Angels is an enchanting product of mainstream Hollywood. Meg Ryan stars as Dr. Maggie Rice, a heart surgeon who is grieving over a lost patient when an angel named Seth (Nicolas Cage) appears to comfort her. She can see him despite the "rule" that angels are invisible, and Seth's love for Maggie forces him to choose between angelic immortality and a normal human existence on earth with her. Featuring heavenly roles for TV veterans Andre Braugher and Dennis Franz, the film liberally borrows imagery from Wings of Desire, but it also creates its own charming identity. Cage and Ryan give fine performances as lovers convinced they are soul mates, and although the plot relies on a last-minute twist that doesn't quite work, this earnest love story struck a chord with audiences and proved to be one of the surprise hits of 1998. --Jeff Shannon

SAVE THE LAST DANCE

This a very romantic movie to watch with your valentine this year. Its and amazing story of love that was tested. Watch it and enjoy.

Editorial Reviews of Save the Last Dance

By Amazon

Save the Last Dance enjoyed a profitable release in early 2001, with box-office earnings that exceeded anyone's expectations. Its performance illustrates the staying power of a formulaic movie that avoids the pitfalls and clichés that would otherwise render it forgettable. Since there's nothing new here, you'll appreciate the original quirks in a character-based plot that's just around the corner from Flashdance, and just as familiar. Sara (Julia Stiles) gave up a promising ballet career when her mother was killed while rushing to attend her daughter's crucial audition to Juilliard; Sara blames herself for the accident, and at her new, mostly African American high school in Chicago, she's uncertain of her future.
Derek (Sean Patrick Thomas) has no such doubts; his own future is bright, and his attraction to Sara is immediate; they connect (predictably), and Sara's dormant funk emerges, with Derek's coaching, as she learns hip-hop dancing in a local club. Obligatory subplots are equally routine: Derek's sister (Kerry Washington) is a single mom struggling with her child's absentee father; Derek's best friend (Fredro Starr) feels trapped in his gangsta lifestyle; and Sara's once-estranged father (Terry Kinney) is doing his best to correct past mistakes. Within the confines of this standard follow-your-dream drama, director Thomas Carter capitalizes on a script that allows these characters to be real, intelligent, and thoughtful about their lives and their futures. It's obvious that Stiles's dancing was intercut with that of a professional double, but that illusion hardly matters when the rest of the movie's so earnestly positive and genuine. --Jeff Shannon
