Valentine's Day Crafts for kids

I just came across this really neat website will all kinds of crafts for kids to do. Kids? Heck I want to do some of them myself! LOL the only downside to this one is you have buy their kits. But, If you look at the pictures, you can get a pretty good idea of how to make the items yourself without purchasing the kits.

I was looking up Valentine's crafts for kids because I have my granddaughter today and wanted to find something she could do being only 2 1/2 years old. This is really great site.

They even have science experiments you can do withyour kids.

Needless to say, I have this one bookmarked now. :)

Valentine's Day Wreath

There is a great website that will give you directions to make your own Valentine's Day Wreath. The web address is:

http://www.ilovetocraft.com/sewing/valentine-heart-wreath.shtml

Anyways, I took this same pattern and did my own version. I bought a 12" round wire wreath at A.C. Moore and wrapped in red fabric. (The fabric actually had a western print on it of cowboy boots, hats, etc.) I cut the fabric into strips and and wound it around the frame and sewed the ends together so it wouldn't fall off.

I then took each one of my stuffed hearts (I stuffed them before I finished sewing them closed.) and sewed it onto the fabric covered wreath. I then cut three lengths of ribbon, white, pink and red, and sewed them onto the top heart and tied a bow.

My best friend is working on one right now using the same concept, but is trying to make hers like a flower. I am not sure how that is going to turn out, but we shall see.

The History of Valentine's Day

I was curious as to how Valentine's Day came into being. I have come across several different websites, each with its own version of how it came to be.

The first site here is a three part version from the history.com.

Hanging Hearts Project

Here is another wall hanging to sew. It is so cute and it could actually be used year round if you like to decorate with hearts. I don't think it would be very hard to turn the hearts into pockets and make it so you could put your Valentine's Day cards in it.
