Books Provide Value
Books that are unwanted or unused are such a rich resource for eduction. Provided the books are donated to an organization that can take these books and place them in the hands of those who need them. There are more than enough books in the world today--the problem is getting the right books in the right place.
The Importance of Reading to Children
The Educational Value is Imense.
Reading a good book is a fun and inexpensive mode of entertainment for many of us. However, there are many people in the world today who lack basic reading skills. The ability to read is such an important part of our lives. Many of us take reading granted. What would our lives be like without the ability to read?
According to UNESCO about 1 in 5 adults are not literate, and that more than 770 million adults lack minimum literacy skills? In fact 75 million children are not in school and many more attend irregularly or drop out. Having only one textbook per classroom is one major reason why these children are not in school. Often the only book that is available is the teachers manual.
Books can provide valuable education and skills. They can lift an economy with higher earnings, diminish crime and poverty, and improve overall efficiency and wellbeing. These are just a few ways everyone can benefit from books.
Having an ample supply of books is essential in helping and improving the lives of people all over the world.
