Vases

Can I show you my collection of vases?

These are unique vases I have from around the world and I would like to show them to you.

Vases have been in our household from very early on and my family constantly added more and more. My family loves to have a piece of art in the home and vases are great works of art. Vases show a countries own version of a vase like in an example: a European vase will look different then a Latin vase or an Indian vase because of the materials they use. Vases are used to carry water or flowers but we have them because of the beauty.

Vases

Triangular Vase

Triangular shaped vase

This vase I made myself is a triangular vase. It was made with clay, glazed and heated. It took a few hours to model and another day to heat. It is made here in Canada. The vase itself is about 12 inches tall. This is a unique vase because I have not seen a similar one anywhere. Also it is quite heavy thanks to the thickness that I made it. Any thicker and the vase would not make it past the baking part and would be destroyed. I wanted a brown glossy look and well it didn't come as even as I hoped it would. But I am generally pleased with it.

Green Vase

Green vase with lid

This vase here has a really nice apple green colour. It is about 12cm tall and about 12cm in diameter. It is made in Portugal. It has a nice shape surrounding it and it smooth. It is also quite lite because of
the thin ceramic used to make it. It is well made and very uniform when it comes to the design of thebase and its extruding ribs.

I found that this vase is made by an artist by the name of Ehlen Johansson. You can find her website and see the other designs that she has made.

Small Vase

This is one small vase

I found this vase around the house and never really noticed it until then. It was always hard to find because of its size. I don't know where it is made so I can't say anything about the origin. This vase is really small! This little vase only measures about 10cm. It has a nice decoration on the outside as you can see. It has a glossy finish on it and gold coloured areas. I think the vase has designs of flowers on the side. The precision here is quite hard to achieve considering the size of this vase.

Bronze Vase

Bronze and wire vase

This vase is bronze coloured and has a black coloured mesh surrounding it. It also has this wire mesh around it giving it an interesting look. The mesh is made from wire that is twisted to give it a mesh look. The vase itself is made from ceramic clay and is more heavy. It is made in the Philippines. It is about 12 inches tall and about 10 inches wide.

Tall Vase

Tall bottle like vase

Here I have a tall bottle like vase. It is a ceramic vase that has a wide bottom and a thin top. It has a ring effect throughout it giving it a nice ripple like texture. This vase is 23.5 inches tall and 7 inches wide. It is from Vietnam. It looks great with long black sticks in it as we did that and it really looked great. It is a contemporary vase and looks great in a contemporary room.

Big Vase

Greek Style vase

This vase is a big one. It is a ceramic vase that was left white. It looks great left white because it goes with everything. Reminds me of Greek vases actually because of the strong white colour. It is though from Mexico and it is 20 inches tall by 10 inches wide.

Big Vase

Deep Vase

Deep brown vase

This is a large deep vase. I think it is designed to be used outdoors as it is quite big and thick. It can probably hold lots of soil and water and so it is probably great for large plants. It being thick is why I think it is good for plants. It is 21.5 inches tall and 20 inches wide. I think it is made in Southeast Asia because when we received it, there were newspapers from what looked like they were from a Southeast Asian country, I'm thinking India or Bangladesh.

Deep Vase

Wine Jug

Wine Jug for Wine!

This jug is a part of a set which includes the vase listed above. It is made of the same ceramic material as the deep vase and also weighs a bit more then the others. This one has a handle and spout that pours out water and is compliments the deep vase. This vase is 12.5 inches tall and 8 inches wide. Since it is a set and came with the deep vase, I can assume it is also from Southeast Asia.

Glass Vase

Glass Vase with lid

This is a vase that comes with a glass lid. This vase is quite lite because of the thin glass. However the glass lid is very thick and heavy. This vase is 10.5 inches tall and 8.5 inches wide. I don't know where it is from because it doesn't say. This vase goes well with any surrounding because it is glass and see through.

Crystal Vase

Blue Crystal Vase

This is a beautiful blue vase made of Crystal. It is from Poland and has been in the family for many years. It has very detailed designs etched all over. It is 12.5 inches tall and 7 inches wide.
