Fun Things to Do, Hotels and Places to Stay in Las Vegas
No really! If you're headed to Las Vegas, you're technically headed to Paradise. Tell your friends. The majority of the Las Vegas strip is in an unincorporated town called "Paradise," which is right beside the city of Las Vegas, but still in Clark County, Nevada.
Here we'll go over some of the most prominent and acclaimed hotels in Las Vegas, along with some of the fun things you can do in this city!
How do you get to Las Vegas?
If you're headed by car, it's very easy to get to!

Las Vegas is very easy to get to by car. Interstate 15 will bring you directly into Las Vegas. If you're located in the Southern California area, if you can find I-10, take it east to I-15 North. It's that easy. Follow for about 4 hours. From points north of Las Vegas like Colorado and Utah, I-15 connects with both I-80 and I-70. Just head south on I-15!
For exact directions, head to Google Maps for a quick, easy printout.

The Strip
The lifeblood of Las Vegas
"The Strip," as it's called, is Las Vegas Boulevard. This road is where most of the major hotels and casinos are located, such as Mandalay Bay, Bellagio, The Venetian, Caesars Palace, Tropicana, MGM Grand, and many more. The shots that you see in movies are almost always of Las Vegas Boulevard and the unbelievable lights.
MGM Grand
One of the strip's main attractions and biggest hotels
MGM Grand is one of the old staples of the Strip. It's actually not that old, opening in 1993, and holds the largest casino in Vegas. Don't miss the Lion Habitat, or the huge, impressive lobby.

The Mirage
A hotel made of actual gold?

Think this hotel looks rich? Well, that might be because it's made of actual gold. We're not kidding. Actual gold was used in the tinting process of the Mirage's windows! A project by Steven Wynn, The Mirage has a style that has been copied over and over by other hotels on the strip, and responsible for the major upswing in tourism over the past 20 years. Must sees are the Beatles-themed REVOLUTION and the White Tiger exhibit.

Las Vegas is Blowing Up!
Las Vegas has roughly doubled in size since 1990! The population was a mere 258,00, but that has since grown to an estimated 552,00! That makes Las Vegas one of the fastest growing cities in the USA.
The Venetian
Venice themed hotel with unbelievable pools and ornate detail

A Five Diamond AAA Masterpiece, The Venetian of Las Vegas is an amazing hotel. Start outside and notice the elaborate canal waterways, gondolas, huge towers, and mind-blowing lobby. The lobby is lavish, to say the least, and features a ornately decorated and painted ceiling with carved fixtures and woodwork. The pools are another amazing area of the hotel...the outstanding attention to detail in decoration, landscape architecture and service makes for the ultimate swim.

The Venetian is another amazing, newer resort in Las Vegas. The pool deck is an awe-inspiring site. It's outdoors, but the weather in Vegas is warm enough that it's usually okay to sneak into the pool through late November.

New Frontier Hotel Implosion Las Vegas
The New Frontier was imploded Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007. The 65-year-old casino, the second property built on the famous Las Vegas Strip, was the venue where Elvis Presley made his Las Vegas debut in 1956. It also housed entertainers like Siegfried and Roy, and Wayne Newton; was once owned by eccentric billionaire Howard Hughes; and featured one of the longest union strikes in U.S. history. Luxor
Egyptian themed pyramid, the most recognizable hotel in Vegas

Named after the Egyptian city of Luxor, the Luxor Las Vegas is a memorable stay or visit. The tip of the pyramid contains the brightest light in the world. It's so bright that it can be seen from Los Angeles air traffic! The Luxor may be scheduled to undergo some changes from its Egyptian themed interior to a more modern appeal to compete with other hotels on the strip.

If you're not a hot weather person...
...don't come to Vegas after May! It can get unbearably hot outdoors. Though it is a dry heat, it's not uncommon for daytime peak summer temperatures to hit above 105°F! It's not as bad as it sounds...the dryness of the heat makes it very tolerable. Besides, the pool is only a few steps away!

- Fun lens! Brings back memories of a trip to Vegas 10 years ago. Couldn't believe the sights. There were times I would have sworn I was in Venice....or was it Egypt? Paris? New York? South Sea Islands? Vegas was definitely an adult Disney World. 5*s! (I couldn't live there. 3-4 days was the perfect amount of time for me.)
