As a vegan living in San Diego I've developed a pretty encyclopedic knowledge of local vegetarian restaurants for dining out, or where to buy produce to eat in.

- In Normal Heights
Standard veggie food, which isn't common in San Diego. All vegetarian and vegan menu. Try the "Neat Loaf". - Ranchos Cocina Mexican and Vegetarian Cuisine
- In North Park and Ocean Beach
A huge menu of Mexican favorites, not all vegetarian. Try the soy chorizo burrito. - Pokez
- In East Village
Great Mexican food, not all vegetarian, funkier and smaller than Ranchos. Try the tofu fajitas. - Sipz
- In Clairemont and Sorrento Valley
Asian Fusion, mostly vegan, all vegetarian, try the "Chicken" with Basil. - Vegan Zone
- In Pacific Beach
Asian Fusion/Thai, all vegan. Try the Buddha's Delight.
Buying Produce in San Diego
- Henry's Marketplace
- All over SD
A big produce section in every store, always some fantastic produce specials. A smaller organic section. - Ocean Beach People's Organic Foods Co op
- In Ocean Beach
If you live anywhere OB you have to try People's! Tons of great organic, and no stinky fish or meat counter. - Whole Foods Market
- In Hillcreat and La Jolla
The national chain has some fantastic eats for vegetarians. Pricey, but top notch stuff! - Jimbo's ...Naturally!
- In Carlsbad, Del Mar Heights, Escondido
If you are up in North County you have to try Jimbos. It's a lot like Whole Foods. - Windmill Farms
- In Del Cerro
A lot like Henry's, but just one store - not a chain. If you are near SDSU try Windmill. I live near this store, so I go there once or twice a week. - SD Farmers Markets
- All over SD
If you live near a farmers market these are great to add to your shopping schedule. Some of the best are Hillcrest, Ocean Beach, and La Jolla.
