Vent Free Gas Stove Means No Chimney

Gas Stove Can Use Either Natural Gas or Either Propane Gas Depending On Location

The Vent free gas stove is what it claims to be: vent free. This terminology refers to the vent free gas fireplace. This will allow for the gas stove to be installed without the regular wood burning fireplace chimney. This will allow for the gas stove to be installed almost any place, as long as it has a gas line running to it. This gas can be either the natural gas or the propane gas. This is easy to confuss with the antique gas stove that is used in the kitchen for cooking with.

The vent free stove or fireplace will use a system that will draw in the fresh air from the room that it is heating. This air is used for the combustion process. The used air or the warm air with the by products is returned to the same room. This allows for the vent free system to be one of the most effect gasstoves. These units have a burning efficiency rate of around 99.9 percent. This is why the vent free stove does not need a regular chimney.

There is a safety system in place for the vent free stoves. This is called the Oxygen Depletion System or the ODS. The manufactures of the vent free fireplaces state the units will will not only meet but will also exceed the EPA, or the Environmental Protection Agencies guidelines. The oxygen depletion system will monitor the oxygen levels in the room. If the levels drop, the monitoring system will turn off the gas supply.

These units are designed to operate off of the natural gas or either the propane gas. Before the purchase of a gas fireplace it is important to know which type of gas is available in your area. If your home or business is located in a larger city, the chances are you will have access to natural gas. This gas is delivered by a large network or gas pipe lines that run in the city to each home or building. You will have a monthly bill like a monthly cable bill. If you are located outside the city, you may use the propane gas. A large storage tank will be delivered to the location. A propane gas line will run from the storage tank to the inside of the building. The propane gas company will deliver gas to refill the storage tank as needed. This will depend on the amount of propane gas used and the size of the storage tank. The tank is constructed out of heavy steel and is painted with a special paint to help stop rust.
