Home of Burke Mountain Academy, the most highly acclaimed ski academy in the country, with over 45 Olympians to its credit, Burke Mountain features winding trails and glades on 250 acres of terrain and a vertical drop of over 2000 feet. Jay Peak

Jay Peak

This is a sport where many resorts throw impressive numbers, statistics and 'est's' at you (longest, deepest, bestest%u2026) and while we certainly have our fair share of numbers and accolades, about-Jay Peak is definitely something that can be difficult to quantify within the world of numbers.

Our approach to skiing and riding is pretty simple; approach the business of skiing and riding from the perspective of the skier and rider. That is, make big mountain skiing and riding affordable (and that market share will always trump yield). Have enough in the way of bell and whistle to compliment the skiing and riding, not replace and detract from it. That commitment should be rewarded. Early openings and late closings are important. And that first Tram always trumps last call.

Recently, our long-time President Bill Stenger assembled a group of investors (and by group we don't mean a monolithic beastie of a corporation-more like another homeowner and his buddy) to purchase Jay Peak from long-time owner Mont Saint Sauveur Corporation of Canada. What you'll see reinforced this season is that when resorts are run by those who ski and ride, skiers and riders benefit.
We care about snow and glades and making both American and Canadian skiers and riders feel welcome. We care about affordable lunch specials. We think snow reports should tell the truth and we don't think staying a night in a ski-in/ski-out town home has to break the bank.

About Jay Peak? We stand for quite a bit but the only way to see what drives us is to make the drive.

Killington

Killington

BEAST HAS ITS OWN GRAVITATIONAL PULL.

Variety is the spice of skiing and riding and it's the reason skiers and riders of all abilities make the pilgrimage to The Beast. Six mountains. 140 trails. Over 70 miles of terrain. An extensive lift network featuring two high-speed gondolas that service everything from groomed cruisers to classic New England tree runs to parks, pipes, bumps and steeps.

Mad River Glen

Mad River Glen is a ski area in Fayston, Vermont. Its terrain has been ranked by SKI magazine as the most challenging on the east coast of the United States.[1] Located within the Green Mountain range, it sits in the Mad River Valley, close to the larger Sugarbush Resort. Though not considered a large ski area, it has a vertical drop of 2,000 feet (610 m), which ranks 14th in New England.[2]

It averages over 250 inches (640 cm) of snow a year and maintains a traditional form of New England skiing that emphasizes snow preservation on narrow trails instead of man-made snow on wide boulevards. Mad River Glen also does very little grooming and prefers to leave its trails with whatever naturally forms. It has one of only two single chairlifts left in the country and does not allow snowboarding.[3] It is one of a very limited number of ski cooperatives. Individuals purchase publicly available shares and attend regular "Town Hall" meetings, voting on issues regarding the area and management of the cooperative.

Magic Mountain Ski Resort

Magic Mountain Ski Resort

The Mountain

Magic is a true skiing treasure. Steep narrow twisting trails, moderate groomers, and tremendous glade skiing, Magic is one of Vermont's last best kept secrets. With uncrowded slopes and fresh tracks that often last days after a storm, locals know Magic is the place to ski. Magic's "ski it if you dare" policy lets adventurous skiers enjoy all this mountain has to offer, while the updated snowmaking and grooming equipment will guarantee great skiing for the whole family.

Located in Southern Vermont, Magic is just minutes from Manchester, Vt. and just a few hours from many metropolitan centers. Just off Rte.11 near the junction of Rte.100, Magic is the perfect destination for a quick Vermont skiing getaway.

Middlebury College Snow Bowl

Middlebury College Snow Bowl

A mountain steeped in history, trails were first cut here in 1934, making the Snow Bowl one of Vermont's earliest ski areas and clearing the way for a legacy of champion Middlebury College ski teams and a host of Olympians. Today three chairlifts-two triples and one double-serve 17 trails, plus several gladed areas for skiing and riding in the trees. State-of-the-art snowmaking ensures quality snow even when Mother Nature doesn't cooperate. The mountain's historic lodge, which was expanded and remodeled in 2003, features the original fieldstone fireplace where intrepid skiers warmed their woolies in the early days before the lodge was built. Skiers and riders enjoy the Bowl's full service cafeteria and can rent equipment or get their skis and boards tuned in the Ski and Snowboard Shop. Whether discovering the sport for the first time or fine tuning carving skills, instruction is available from the professionally-staffed Snow School.

All these big mountain amenities along with affordable prices make the Snow Bowl a true skiers' and riders' mountain and a place families and college racers alike call home.

Okemo

Okemo

There are four main areas at Okemo, each with at least one high speed detachable quad. The main mountain is serviced primarily by the Northstar Express Quad and two older fixed-grip triples. The 1,700-vertical-foot cruisers, such as Chief, World Cup, and Jolly Green Giant are accessed from the Northstar Express. When lift lines become crowded the Green Ridge Triple can be used to reach the top of the mountain instead, although it loads at the middle of the mountain. The main area also includes runs directed at more advanced skiers, such as Searle's Way, Sel's Choice, Nor'Easter Terrain Park, Defiance, and the Dew Zone (Mountain Dew sponsored halfpipe and snowboard park).

Solitude, to the right of the main mountain as one looks uphill, offers about 1,100 vertical feet. The Solitude area also has its own base lodge, hotel accommodations, and private trailside homes. Most of the trails in this area are intermediate cruisers, though some blacks exist, such as Exhibition and The Plunge.

Pico - Pico Mountain

At more than one mile long, Pike, Pico's longest trail, begins at the summit and ends outside the base lodge. Also from the summit, skiers and riders can try the blue square 49er or the winding black diamond trails like Summit Glades, Upper KA and Sunset 71. More experienced skiers and riders can take a shot at the mountain's steepest trail, Giant Killer - a double-black diamond. For glade skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts, Pico offers tree skiing on Doozie and Birch Woods.

First-time skiers and snowboarders can take advantage of their own chairlift and rope tow, serving two gentle learning trails at the Bonanza area. For cruising and carving, check out the green circle and blue square trails off the Golden Express Quad, including Fool's Gold, Prospector and Gold Rush. Riders and skiers working on their freestyle skills will be right at home in the Triple Slope Terrain Park.

Stowe Mountain Resort

Stowe

Mount Mansfield is both a protective barrier and a celebrated attribute of the Stowe community. Its distinctiveness and mass grant us an earthly sense of proportion. Our mountain evokes a spectrum of emotions from fear to bravery, awe to serenity, and spirituality to awareness of self.

Each of the trails at Stowe Mountain Resort offers a unique experience - hence "The Great 48." Because no two trails are alike, individualism and self-expression awaken within those who explore the mountain's character. The mythology and magnetism of Stowe are the inspiration that continues to bring the community at large to this special place.

Sugarbush

Sugarbush

Many know us for our award winning terrain (and yes it is some of the best terrain in the East!), but we're much, much more than that. The natural beauty and mountain environment provide a striking setting and a true escape from the everyday. Our home - the Mad River Valley - provides a reason in and of itself to visit Sugarbush. "The Valley" as locals call it, is full of Vermont charm and empty of stop lights and fast food joints. Quirky shops, great restaurants, artisan galleries, covered bridges, church steeples, and more...all strung together by the winding Mad River. Come visit!

Suisice Six

Our modern trail grooming and snowmaking capabilities insure that you and your family can plan on an exhilarating day of skiing or riding with any stay at The Woodstock Inn & Resort during our winter ski season. And you'll be sharing a family experience that dates back to Wallace "Bunny" Bertram, who opened the first ski lift on Hill No. 6 (thus, the name) back in 1936.

And snowboarders are welcome on the same slopes that proudly hosted the first National Snow Snurfing (the original name) competition in 1982.
