Vespa Scooters

Start saving gas, and do it in style!  Buy a used and or new Vespa, and start zipping through traffic today!

Are you in the market to buy a new or used scooter or Vespa? As gas prices rise to almost $4.00 here in California, and other places in the USA a Vespa scooter seems very appealing. Vespa's get around 85 - 95 miles per gallon, and they hold around 1.5 gallons of gas. Buying a new or used Vespacan really save you allot of money in gas, insurance, parking and time not spent in traffic. Remember, you can legally go between cars to get through traffic. This is also a nice perk about having a Vespa.

One of the more popular modern Vespa's is the LX150 and or LV150. The Vespa LX150 has a roaring 150CC version. The Vespa LX 150 lets you do an impressive highway like 59 mph to get you where you want to go and fast!

So when shopping for a new or used Vespa, there are a few things to think about. Below are a few questions you should ask yourself:

1. What will you mainly be using your Vespa for?

2. What is your budget?

3. New or used? - Do you mind buying a used Vespa or new?

4. Will you ever have anyone else ride with you on the Vespa?

5. Do you live in a large city with allot of hills? Or do you live on mainly a flat land area? - If you live in a large city with hills, a Vespa LXV 150 and or larger should be considered. Having a Vespa 50 will get you into trouble when trying to get out of traffic, or merely just trying to get out of someones way.

6. Have you ever ridden a scooter or motorcycle before? - If not, you may want to start with something small and then work your way up to a larger bike.

No matter what Vespa scooter you end up buying, you will at least spend over $2,000.

Things you should check before buying a used Vespa:

- Tires (should be fully inflated and in good condition; look for cracks, etc)
- Battery (a bike that's been stored a long time shouldn't have had the battery in it)
- How difficult is it to start? or does it even start at all?
- Do the brakes work? Have you tested them?
- Was the Vespa ever in an accident? (scrape marks, mismatched panels, panel joints that don't meet properly)
- How was the Vespa stored? Did it have a gas tank empty?
