Welcome to Veterans of War!

3 things you should know about Veterans.

*Veterans believe in freedom.
*Veterans put their lives on the line for us.
*Veterans have often times not been honored properly.

The Red Poppy is a symbol of support for our Veterans and Veterans of War. We see them everywhere on Veteran's Day. The United States, Canada and Australia all celebrate Veteran's Day. For some reason most countries do not have a special day to honor troops and veterans, and I do not understand that.

Veteran's Cemetery in Kentucky after War

A war veteran is a person who has or is working in the armed forces.

A person who has had long service or experience in an occupation or office in the military.

Many countries have traditions, ceremonies, or holidays to honor veterans.

Most countries do not have a national holiday such as Veterans Day to honor veterans and it's war dead.

It varies from country to country, and for some reason from war to war, how much veterans are honored or discriminated against.

After war!

Memorial Day is May 25th

This is Lensmaster "sittonbull" - Thank You!

He is holding his twin grandsons, Gus and Sam! - "What a smile!"

John is a Vietnam Veteran who I am honoring on Squidoo. John's first lens is "Learning to Squidoo". It is a fun lens that has brought a spark of joy to Squidoo and has won Second Place in the Fresh Squid Awards! He has been a member of Squidoo since Dec.11, 2008. His second lens is inspiring!

I created "Snuggie Humor" where I try to bring humor mixed with a much more serious topic than that. I support our Troops and Veterans. I started that lens in hopes of finding a member of Squidoo to support and promote on Squidoo. Well, John visited that lens one day and kindly let me know that he is a Veteran. This lens has been in my heart to do and John gave me a starting point.

* John shows us that life after war is its own reward!

Our Troops, Our Vetrans, Our Veterans of War, Our War Dead

Ever been walking along and you seen someone in military wear, and wanted to say thank you but just didn't dare? - Just say thank you or give them a wave or gesture.- They'll know and they will appreciate it.

Do you know of someone that has served their country, that you would like to say thank you to but you just didn't know how? - Just say thank you in your own way.

Those things that come from the heart - reach the heart.

Such a great idea for a lens and so very necessary. You're right, I always want to say something when I see someone in uniform - often it's a very, young man in an airport on a long trek to somewhere. Next time, I'm going to say thank you. Very well done.
