An Opinion Poll and Resource for Information on the Vice Presidential Debate

Almost certainly the most watched Vice Presidential debate ever, this face-off had a lot riding on it. Reputations could be improved or destroyed by the performances of Joseph Biden and Sarah Palin Thursday night.

The general strategy by both sides going into the debate was thought to be as boring and low-key as possible: to do no harm to oneself. I've collected lots of resources so you can stay informed on everything about the debate. You can also voice your opinion on a number of debate-related questions.

Remember to stop back often; the resource section of this lens updates every six hours to keep up with the very latest news about Joseph Biden, Sarah Palin, and the debate.

Yes

sharon says:

"Say it ain't so Joe." I may be in the minority but I believe she would make a great VP. It's about time we let a women have a larger roll in politics. Men have messed up. Let's give her a chance.

phun guy says:

whether the Republicans win or not, Sarah Palin is here to stay and Hillary will have to get used to that.

JudyDunn says:

I was surprised that Palin started courting the soccer moms along with the hockey moms! Seriously, it would have been great to have hear actually answer the questions she was asked....and for the moderator to call her out on that.

stoetzels says:

Surprised to see Palin so well prepared...everything written down, laid out for her, as if she knew all the questions beforehand, she was even reading the attacking statements...all she has is a face....

Chris says:

That she didn't pull another Katic Couric - "Which newspapers do you read?"
"Uh.....any. All. Whatever they put in front of me."

Jean Lynn says:

Sarah Palin, with her winking and by golly by gosh folksiness, is channeling George Bush. I can't imagine voters will fall for this again.

Laurie Amanda Hanin says:

Where was the moderator to force the answers?

Concerned Independent says:

I was surprised by the number of times Palin used the word "also", but I guess when all she has are a bunch of hastily memorized talking points it is one way to glue them together.

It's sad, it could have been a drinking game.

Christina Stevens says:

I was surprised that Gov. Palin got to have her own debate, not answering questions that were asked and answering questions that had not been asked.

No

Tei-chan says:

What I can't believe - besides the fact that Palin didn't actually answer anything - is that people want to vote for her JUST BECAUSE SHE'S FEMALE!!! It does not mean that she is capable of handling a position of power. I'm not sexist against her (I'm female, and I really want us to take our place in the world, as men's equals), but she's not the right person for this. She has abondoned her family and shows a disturbing lack of concern for the environment (i.e. off-shore drilling). It frightens me to know that many people will let their decisions be influenced by a person's gender, and not about the capabilities of that person.

kl says:

I liked how Sarah had good eye contact and I agree with almost everything she said. Joshep looked like he was smirking at Sarah's comments. Verry poor to do when wanting to become a leader.

Reggie_Marigold says:

Both did their parties proud. I expected them both to do well and they did. Palin did better in the beginning and Biden did better in the end. To me it was a draw.

An Obama/Biden ticket would give us a codependecy presidency...a 2 for 1. A McCain/Palin ticket would give us a president doing his thing and a veep focusing on her strengths: energy, reform, and special needs. That is, if you followed their answers to the question of what will you do as veep...Which is better? Don't look at me. Both tickets have strengths and both have weaknesses.

I'd like to hang with Joe at Home Depot. What do you think that experience would be like? Perhaps Sarah could clean up my potty mouth?

Either way, it comes down to Obama v. McCain.

People vote for presidents. Don't they?

Evelyn_Saenz says:

She still doesn't inspire confidence.

I was surprised that she was able to speak so much better than when she spoke with Katie Couric.

I was also surprised that no one had helped her with her hair and given her a more presidential look.

Michael says:

Sarah Palin: "Nucular" instead of Nuclear - where have we heard that before?
Hint: He's (unfortunately) the current president...
