About the Victoria Falls

The Victoria falls is situated between Zimbabwe and Zambia in southern Africa.
The falls is one of the most magnificent natural sights that a person can ever see.
It was named the Victoria falls by David Livingstone, when he was the first European to see the falls in 1855 (or there abouts).

MOSI OA TUNYA

The falls was named by the local people, MOSI OA TUNYA which means the smoke that thunders. This is the mist that the water creates when falling and landing from the falls hence it looks like smoke with the heavy sound of water crashing to the gorge below.

Size

The length of the falls is amazing it stretches for just over 1700 metres or 1.7km, with a height ranging from 90 to 107 m, thus making it the longest length of waterfall in the world.

The river that feeds the massive falls is known as the Zambezi river, this river is mighty and after falling from the falls it flows into Lake Kariba which is over 220km (140miles) long.

The best time to go and see the Victoria falls in all its might is between February and May , while April seems to be at its peak, the falls will produce one of the most spectacular sights that is known to man.
