The Best of Victoria Wood
British comedienne Victoria Wood could always make me laugh out loud! I have loved her observational and parodic humour since first seeing her some time ago.
She is perhaps not as media visible these days, but her wit has stood and still stands the test of time. She is not so well-known outside of the UK and some of its former colonies, mainly due to her specific British humor, but anyone watching her can pick up the observations of British society, class and everyday life.
One of her funniest sketches, in my honest opinion, is included on this page - "Two Soups". While she does not appear in it herself, her cohort Julie Walters takes central stage as the aging waitress waiting on two customers, who can barely keep a straight face themselves.
For those of you who know Ms. Wood, enjoy again these wonderful sketches and for those of you who don't know her, I hope you too will laugh out loud!

A Look At Victoria Wood
Victoria Wood Biography
Victoria Wood CBE (born 19 May 1953 in Prestwich, Lancashire) is a BAFTA award winning English comedienne, actor, singer and writer, educated at Bury Grammar Girls' School. Wood has written and starred in sketches, plays, films and sitcoms, and her live stand-up comedy act is interspersed with her own compositions, which she accompanies on piano.
Much of her humour is grounded in everyday life, and includes references to popular British media and brand names of quintessentially British products....
Housewife, 49 - Starring Victoria Wood
In wartime, an ordinary woman finds new courage.
As the world fights for freedom in WWII, one woman struggles to liberate herself.
Soon after England declared war on Germany in 1939, Lancashire housewife Nella Last began writing a diary as part of a public project. She was 49 and fearful that she wouldn't be able to cope with her son's enlistment and life alone with her domineering husband. This award-winning drama not only recounts her experience of wartime privations, but also her dawning sense of independence. Amid the hardships of food rations and air raids, Nella's volunteer work for the war effort fills her with an exhilarating sense of purpose.
Written by and starring beloved British performer Victoria Wood, Housewife, 49 presents a moving glimpse into life on the home front through the eyes of a resolute woman gradually awakening to life.
A serious role for Victoria Wood, for which she won two BAFTAS, one for Best Actress and one for Best Single Drama.
"Rich in detail, brilliantly acted" - Daily Express (U.K.)
