Support the U.S. Military
As a conservative, flag-waving, military-supporting American, I hear challenges to my core beliefs every day. I am told that if I just knew "the truth" or studied the issue more closely, I would change my position. They are wrong: my beliefs are very well developed and founded in careful study and consideration. I'm tired of being expected to keep my opinions quiet simply because they are not politically correct.
This page is designed to provide resources and encouragement for others like myself, not to attempt to persuade anti-Bush or anti-war advocates. It is important that we conservatives stand up and raise our voices as strongly as those who do not support the war on terror.
Writings on Modern Peace and War
- "Peace Follows Victory: War on Terror"
- This editorial by Lt. Col. (Ret.) Michael Burket takes an historical look at lessons learned from war. It begins: "As distasteful as it may sound, history is rife with the lesson that often as not, peace follows victory in war."
- National Strategy for Combating Terrorism September 2006
- This is the new update from President Bush released September 5, 2006. In response to our efforts, the terrorists have adjusted, and so we must continue to refine our strategy to meet the evolving threat. Excerpt from the introduction: "Today, we face a global terrorist movement and must confront the radical ideology that justifies the use of violence against innocents in the name of religion. As laid out in this strategy, to win the War on Terror, we will: Advance effective democracies as the long-term antidote to the ideology of terrorism; Prevent attacks by terrorist networks; Deny terrorists the support and sanctuary of rogue states; Deny terrorists control of any nation they would use as a base and launching pad for terror; and
Lay the foundations and build the institutions and structures we need to carry the fight forward against terror and help ensure our ultimate success." - White House: National Strategy for Victory in Iraq
- This White House document articulates the broad strategy set forth by President Bush in 2003 and provides an update on our progress and the challenges still ahead of us.
- No End But Victory (Blog)
- This is an interesting blog with links to a wide variety to other resources. It could be a little better organized, but it's a good read if you need support for your conservative viewpoint.
- National Security Strategy Statement
- In this introduction to the National Security Strategy position paper published in March 2006, President Bush clearly articulates the value of a position of strength. "America now faces a choice between the path of fear and the path of confidence," he writes. "This Administration has chosen the path of confidence. We choose leadership over isolationism, and the pursuit of free and fair trade and open markets over protectionism. We choose to deal with challenges now rather than leaving them for future generations. We fight our enemies abroad instead of waiting for them to arrive in our country. We seek to shape the world, not merely be shaped by it; to influence events for the better instead of being at their mercy."

America: The Last Best Hope (Volume I): From the Age of Discovery to a World at War
If you have read anything by William Bennett, you know you are in for a treat with his latest book. As another reviewer said: "The only bias that Mr. Bennett holds is that he (as do I ) think America is the greatest nation on the face of the Earth. This is not blind patriotism or nationalism. Instead it is patriotism based on fact more than pure emotion." This book is full of facts and should be considered a must-read!

Why I Wrote This Web Page
More than 20 years ago, I worked for a World War II museum now known as the Commemorative Air Force. My job writing articles and taking photographs for their bimonthly magazine gave me many opportunities to interview WWII veterans, from commanders, to enlisted men, to women who worked here at home. Every time I met a WWII veteran, I learned more about the importance of a strong military and the value of defending America.Today, I believe that the war on terrorism is as important to us and our children as World War II was to our parents, grandparents and great grandparents. I am saddened that my support for President Bush, the miliary and the war on terrorism is challenged on a daily basis. What makes it worse is that the detractors try to make me feel selfish, ignorant or worse.
When one of our family friends was deployed to Iraq, I asked myself again what I am doing to support the war on terrorism. I decided to use my design skills create a few items that I can wear and use to publicly show my support - and to use my research and web development skills to develop a straightforward, easy-to-read resource. I know that it pales in comparison to the contributions of our service men and women. It's a small way to say that I care and support them. Now I am sharing these resources with you.
