How to Add Your Own Video to a Wordpress Blog
Two options to adding your own video to a Wordpress Blog. Follow the steps below to add your own video to a Wordpress blog.
Two options to add videos I have done both of these options and found Option 2 to be faster and easier to accomplish. Option 1 is easy but you might need to add code to some pages.
This can be a little confusing but these are the steps to add your own video to a Wordpress blog
There are some good plugins out there but installing them can get a little confusing.
So we will take it step by step.
You will need to download a few items from the web. So download these to your desktop and keep them handy so that you do not get confused
Choose an option
1. Download Jeroen Wijerings excellent Flash Video Player. http://www.jeroenwijering.com/ You will be downloading the FLV Media Player. It currently downloads into a folder called jw_media_player .
2. Download Roel Meurders plugin to simplefy the process of inserting flash video files (FLV) inside a Wordpress post or page. This downloads to a folder called wordtube http://roel.meurders.nl/wordpress-plugins/wp-flv-video-player-plugin/
3. Ok now that you have these plugins on your desktop find the the mediaplayer in the folder you downloaded in number 1 above. Copy the mediaplayer file to the
(The mediaplayer, flvplayer, and the mp3player are the exact same code. Jeroen maintains the three because people come to his site after searching for the mp3 player. They are all interchangeable and all play all media (flv, swf, mp3, 4 image types, captions, extra audio, etc).
4.Activate wp-flv in your plugins in the Wordpress Blog
Use the tag to put your code into the window
Sample code:
Troubleshooting installation for option 1
1. If your inserted code disappears when you go back to edit it. Then you need to open the file wp-flv.php and modify line 61 it might be line 59 or 62
look for a line that starts with preg_match comment out the line with // in front of the line then copy the following into the file
preg_match_all ('!\[flv([^>]*)[ ]*[/]*\]!i',$content,$matches);
2. The flv 'button' does not appear unless you turn of rich text editing in the users perferences.

2 Download Jeroen Wijerings excellent Flash Video Player. http://www.jeroenwijering.com/ You will be downloading the FLV Media Player. It currently downloads into a folder called jw_media_player . This is the same download as number 1 option 1 above.
3. Once you have both of these downloads available find the file mediaplayer.swf
in the Jeroen Wijerings download. Copy it and place it into the Alex Rabe download folder from number 1 above.
4. Upload or ftp the Alex Rabe folder called wordtube into your plugin folder for your wordpress blog.
5. Activate the plugin by going to the Plugin tab and clicking Activate next to the plugin Wordtube.
6. Go to the Options>wordTube tab in your blog Set the options for wordTube to use. These are pretty self explanitory. You might need to play around with the settings to get what you want.
7. Now to put a video on the blog you need to add it to the Media Center. You can locate the Media Center under the Manage tab.
8. Click Insert New Media File. Enter the Title, Author, Media Size. Browse for the media file to upload It currently will handle MP3,FLV,SWF,JPG,PNG or GIF. Browse for the thumbnail for the video to show a preview.( this is optional) Click Add Media File to complete the process.
9. Once you have added the video take a look at the media ID in the Manage Media list. (Manage> Media Center) you will need this ID to be able to add your video to your page or post.
10. To insert a video into your page or post use the tag [MEDIA=1] where 1 is the ID from number 9 above.
ON the edit screen you will see [MEDIA=1] but when you view your site you will see the media you added in the Media Center.
