This is the main page and it will explain what video games are , what the purpose of video games is and how to start gaming. Please note that I am not a fanboy of any platform, I play all the best games on all the platform. I will give links to review lenses, these lenses will provide my opinion of these games, I don't care what other reviews say If "I Like It I Play It". What is video games and why do people play them

"A video game is an electronic game that involves interaction with a user interface to generate visual feedback on a video device"- Wikipedia

But there is no need to get this technical as I am sure you have seen lots of video games. The more interesting question is why people play video games.

There is literally thousands of answer to this question but some of the popular answers tends to be.

To escape reality.

For the sake of entertainment.

Challenging the mind ( For example puzzle games )

It lets you be and do things that is more interesting that real life

Competing purposes

Socializing with friends ( Multilayer games )

thrill and rush of the chase.

To relieve stress

To relieve anger

For relaxation

For the sense of adventure

But to me the answer is simple Because it is FUN. Yes it is fun saving the world, it is fun shooting your friend while you hear him complain, it is fun fighting a group of monster with real people on the internet.

Some games tend to feel like an interactive movie.

Different Platforms

There are allot of different platforms that you can play games on below. The current generation ( meaning the platforms that are currently the most advanced ) are the Xbox 360 that Microsoft created, the Wii that Nintendo created and the PlayStation 3 that Sony created. Then the PC and the Mac is also used to play games on.

Then there are also what is called portable gaming systems.I will not elaborate on them as I will later create a lens for them.

Xbox 360

The Xbox 360 is Microsoft latest gaming console it is the successor to the original Xbox. The Xbox 360 features Xbox live that allows a person to play their games online and download arcade games, game demos, trailers, TV shows, and movies.
The Xbox 360 comes in 3 Different flavors, Arcade, Pro, and Elite. The Xbox 360 also supports up to 4 controllers for multilayer games.

PlayStation 3

The PlayStation 3 is Sony's latest gaming console it is the successor to the PlayStation 2. The PlayStation 3 features the PlayStation Network that is used to play games online and acts as the PlayStation 3's digital media delivery service. The PlayStation 3 uses Blu Ray discs and is also able to play blue ray movies.

The Nintendo Wii is the leader in sales in home video gaming systems. What distinguishes the Wii form the other gaming systems is its remote. It is a handheld pointing device and detects movement in three dimensions. It also has allows one to play games online.

Then there is of course the PC. Obviously the keyboard and mouse is used to play games on the PC . One can also buy a joysticks or steering wheels . There is also a Xbox 360 controller that you can buy to work with the PC.There are also keyboards,mice and headphones that are specifically built for gaming. One can also play online games on the PC.
