Even Toddlers and Preschoolers Can Play Video Games!

I love video games. I have to admit it. My kids love them, I love them, my husband loves them. So it shouldn't be too surprising that when we added a  baby brother to the family, he picked them up quickly.

At 2 1/2, he's a seasoned pro, with only occasional requests for help from a more experienced gamer. "Mama! Get da star! Get da star!" he says, thrusting a controller into my hand.

These games are GameBoy Advance games. The GameBoy Micro is a smaller version of the GameBoy Advance, that fits his little hands very well. If you can find one, that's the best choice. Otherwise, the folding GameBoy Advance will work too.

The Gameboy Micro

It's the newest Gameboy Advance

Here's the Gameboy Micro, shown in a woman's hands. It's about the size of a cell-phone, or an Ipod Nano, and has a bright, clear screen.

There's an on-off switch on the bottom that my boy was able to master at age 2, but he hasn't really figured out the volume control on the right. You can see the "start" and "select" buttons, also on the bottom.

The best part is that it comes with a built-in rechargable battery, and doesn't use disposable batteries at all.

Game Boy Advance Micro Silver (includes Black, Ladybug, Blue Swirl Faceplates)
