Founded in 1955 as the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS), the organization officially changed its name in 2002 to ASIS International. This new name preserves its history while better reflecting the growth and expansion of the society to more than 34,000 members around the world, covering a wide array of services and specialties within the security industry.

ASIS International (ASIS) is the largest organization for security professionals.
