Ville Valo 

Ville Valo was born in Helsinki in November 1976. He is the vocalist and songwriter with the popular Finnish 'love metal' band HIM, which he formed with bassist Mikko Paananen and guitarist Mikko Lindstrom as a teenager. They have since enjoyed worldwide success with their blend of romantic lyrics and dark, melodic music, and were the first Finnish band to go Gold in the US.

Valo has collaborated with a number of other artists over the years, and Summer Wine, his duet with Natalia Avelon, was released as a single in January 2007.

Natalia Avelon 

Natalia Avelon was born in Poland in 1980, and moved with her family to Germany as a child. She has found success as a TV and film actress, and in 2006 she recorded Summer Wine with Ville Valo as part of the soundtrack for her film Das Wilde Leben. The video for this song has been widely circulated, helping to raise Avelon's profile outside of Europe.

'Das Wilde Leben' 

Summer Wine was recorded as part of the soundtrack for the 2007 German film Das Wilde Leben ("The Wild Life"). It is directed by Achim Bornhak, and is set in the 1960s. The film tells the story of Uschi Obermaier (played by Natalia Avelon), a groupie who became a model and an icon of sexual freedom for the younger generation.

'Summer Wine' - The Original Song 

Summer Wine was originally recorded by songwriter Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra in 1967. It appeared as a B-side on the single Sugar Town, and reached number 49 in the US Billboard charts. the original version of Summer Wine also appears on the albums Nancy in London (1966) and Nancy and Lee (1968).

Lee Hazlewood - 'Summer Wine''s Creator 

Summer Wine was written by American singer, producer and songwriter Lee Hazlewood (1929 - 2007). Hazlewood enjoyed most of his success during the 50s and 60s, when he was especially well-known for working with Duane Eddy and Nancy Sinatra. He also had a distinctive baritone voice, and released solo material during the late 60s and early 70s. He gained a cult following, and was an influence on many subsequent artists in the underground rock scene.

Lee Hazlewood first released Summer Wine as a duet with Nancy Sinatra in 1967.
