When you can't find your deoderant, here is a vinegar quick-fix that will keep you fresh.

When you can't find your deodorant, dabbing apple cider vinegar under your arms after you shower may inhibit odor-causing bacteria on your skin, according to the book Natural Healing with Cider Vinegar (Sterling Publishing, 1998). Odor under the armpit is caused by the existence and growth of bacteria there. Kill the bacteria - kill the odor. Vinegar smell should go away fast.

Great barbecue sauce

I finally found a barbecue sauce that is not overly sticky sweet and features vinegar. Courtesy of the folks over at White House Foods:

Sweet and Sour Barbecue Sauce (Makes: 1 cup)
1/2 cup Hoisin sauce*
1/4 cup Apple Cider vinegar
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons soy sauce

Mix all ingredients in a small bowl.

Brush over fully-cooked ribs, other pork, chicken, beef or steak-style fish such as swordfish, salmon or tuna;

Continue to cook until barbecue sauce sets and turns a pleasant spotty brown.

Serve with extra sauce for dipping.

*Hoisin sauce (sometimes called Peking Sauce) is a thick, reddish-brown sauce with a sweet and spicy flavor. It can be found in the Asian cooking section of most grocery stores.

A Few Vinegars You Might Not Have Heard of. 

Coconut

Coconut vinegar, made from the sap, or "toddy," of the coconut palm, is used extensively in Southeast Asian cuisine (particularly in the Philippines, a major producer of the product), as well as in some cuisines of India. A cloudy white liquid, it has a particularly sharp, acidic taste with a slightly yeasty note.

Beer

Vinegar made from beer is produced in Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands. Although its flavor depends on the particular type of beer from which it is made, it is often described as having a malty taste. That produced in Bavaria is a light golden color, with a very sharp and not overly complex flavor.

Honey

Vinegar made from honey is rare, though commercially available honey vinegars are produced in Italy and France.

Vinegar Takes Out The Weeds 

Kill weeds between cracks in paving stones and sidewalks. Fill a spray bottle with straight white vinegar (Pickling vinegar works even better.)and spray multiple times. Be careful not to get any on the surrounding grass, as it will kill that too.

Keep those Musquitoes Away
