I love everything Vintage and Retro
Everything from the 30's through the 70's, I absolutely love. I'm not alone! With so many baby boomers, it's a pretty good bet there are many like me.
Take a stroll back with me, through yesteryear, and revisit some of the everyday items and events that were part of our everyday lives!
No Time machine needed, just a computer, and a love of things vintage and retro. You will see and read about things you haven't in a long time. I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I am enjoying writing it.
Retro Toys
Happy time, happy place

Do you remember when your Parent's got a new television, or even better, a new fridge? You know what that meant! Home-made fort or playhouse! I remember cutting out windows and doors, and just having a blast in these huge boxes!
Those were different times, but that doesn't mean we can't keep them with us. You can bring "back in the day", Back to today! "What's old is new again" is especially true now. Seems Retro and Vintage are all the rage. I was just tickled pink when my 15 year old daughter asked me to go with her to buy some bead strings for her closet door! De Ja Vu! I was in my element. I felt like a teenager again.
I remember that one of my favorite toys when I was a child was my Pedal Car!
There was ONE pedal car, and 3 girls. I probably don't have to tell you about the arguments that arose out of that!
Little Golden Books were a BIG part of our lives. They laid the foundation for the three of us learning to read. You can still get Little Golden Books

Who remembers Holly Hobby? I know many people who still have their collection of Holly Hobby dolls and now there is a whole new generation of collectable cuties.

If you loved the Beatles and you enjoy Monopoly then you are going to LOVE this!

Vintage and Retro
Classic Retro Shows
Retro Television shows

How about "I love Lucy", back when it was a new show! Remember watching that? I loved it whenever Ricky said "Lucy, you got some 'splainin to do!" What that crazy Red Head didn't dream up. She always got Ethel to go along with her too! A true Classic, I Love Lucy

I did love lucy...and she is timeless. People still watch the show to this day.
The Andy Griffith Show
Who can forget Mayberry, Andy, Opey, Aunt Bea, Barney and the rest of the gang? Besides great television viewing, the show also taught morals. It was funny, sentimental, heart warming, but not without conflict.

Fred Flintstone and the crew had to be my all time favorite cartoon. They still show it on the Boomerang Channel
Other 70's shows include Happy Days, CHIPS, MASH, Alice, The Smothers Brother's Show, Sonny and Cher, and of course, Carol Burnett.
There is a fun retro television quiz you should take. You'll find it HERE

Music and Musicians from back in the day
The Oldies but Goodies! Who can forget names like these famous names from the 70's:
The Manhattan Transfer, The Starland Vocal Band, Peter Marshall, Kenny Rogers, Pat Paulsen, The Jacksons, John Byner, Johnny Cash, Jerry Reed, Helen Reddy, Andy Williams, Glen Campbell, Sammy Davis, Jr., Dinah Shore, Kelly Monteith, Sha Na Na, Bobby Darin, Bobby Goldsboro, Bobby Vinton, Dolly Parton,
How about someone who started in the 50's and was still going strong into the 70's? Elvis! People still make the trek to Graceland every year to honor his memory. The hits just kept coming from Elvis, as did the Movies! Now you can even play a classic game featuring the King of Rock and Roll!

Retro and the Classics cover a lot of ground. Think of all of the greats in Motown! You are going back into the 60's here. Remember these names?
The Miracles (later Smokey Robinson & the Miracles)
Mary Wells
Marvin Gaye
Edward Holland, Jr.
The Contours
The Marvelettes
The Supremes (later Diana Ross & the Supremes)
The Temptations
Stevie Wonder (originally Little Stevie Wonder)
Jimmy Ruffin
Kim Weston
The Spinners
Gladys Knight and the Pips
The Jackson 5
And so many more.

Re-living Retro

Return to a time when your biggest worry was being in the house before the street lights came on! Back when Mom made Dinner, and Dad saved for Vacations. They were good times, good times. It's nice, occasionally, to visit the past.
I remember my Mother saying "You'll understand when you are older". I wish I was back hearing it, sometimes, instead of here, finally understanding it.
Sometimes, when my house is empty (and that is rare considering my Daughter, SIL, and 2 Grandchildren live with me!), I will take a step back in time. Listen to some of the old music. Watch some of the old shows, and just remember. Maybe that is something you could try.
More Retro and Vintage items
Would you bring back the 50's, 60's and 70's style?
I sometimes wish they would make the old wooden console televisions, but with all of the new technology that goes along with the great pictures. A Hi-Def Console, that's what I want. I want to redo my room Retro. Have the old lamps, and decorations, and a console t.v. I already have a vintage style radio and CD player that I got from ebay!Or how about redecorating the kitchen/dining room? The black and white floor tiles, the red topped Formica tables, a juke box and the whole shabang! What the heck, our kids think we're crazy anyway, right?
Disney is timeless.
