Vintage Christmas postcards are like little windows into holiday's past. It's easy to get hooked on this hobby. Thankfully eBay makes it easy!
Collecting Vintage Christmas Postcards
Collecting vintage Christmas postcards is a fun hobby that can be enjoyed by anyone. You can collect them in sets of your favorite styles, artists, pictures, whatever!I basically collect my cards by virtue of their pictures. I really like old-time Santas and my collection reflects that.
My collection of antique christmas postcards isn't terribly valuable in terms of money. I just really enjoy looking at them and reading the little notes that were written on the backs of them so long ago.
My best suggestion to you if you are just getting started collecting Christmas postcards is to choose the ones that you will really enjoy having over the ones that might be more valuable today. Collectible item values are funny. All collectibles are always only worth what someone is willing to pay for them.
I've purchased just about all of my vintage postcards by way of eBay. There is always a great selection and I never pay more than I want to pay.
Be sure to have a storage system in mind before you begin, vintage postcards are extremely delicate and if not kept safe your entire collection can disintegrate quickly.
I use plastic postcard protectors to keep my collection in good shape.

John O. Winsch 1910-1915
Stapleton, NY
An important publisher of artist signed and holiday cards. They are especially known for their Halloween and Thanksgiving cards. Winsch used European artists to work directly with his German printers. Samuel L. Schmucker was one of their better known artists who created the Winsch Girl. Fred Kolb, Katherine Eilliot, Charles Levi, and James Frexas also created cards for them. They produced almost 4,000 different designs, many of which were issued in sets. Though most of their cards were manufactured in Germany, some were printed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Winsch Christmas postcards are highly collectible.

How to Price Your Postcards
Pricing your vintage Christmas postcards can be difficult. The basic postcard pricing rules apply with mint refering to a card in pristine condition and poor refering to a card that may have some wrinkles, folds, or rips in it.You could purchase a postcard pricing guide to help you get an idea of what your postcards are worth. I've included a couple of good ones on this page that are available at Amazon you might want to purchase.
Another way to gather pricing information about your antique postcards is to compare prices of similar cards at eBay. I've included some eBay searches to help get you started. If you see something you'd like to buy, click on the product link and you'll be taken to the eBay site where you can shop with confidence.
How to Display Christmas Postcards
The safest way to display your collectible Christmas postcards is to put them under glass, in frames, and hang them around your home during the Holidays.Of course you could leave them up all year but I prefer to change out my framed postcards with the seasons.
Vintage postcards are just to pretty to leave hidden away in a box or drawer.

This 4th Edition of "The Postcard Price Guide," is the 10th postcard price guide by author J.L. Mashburn. It is a very Comprehensive Reference and is completely updated with new values and listings in all chapters. - I am an avid collector and seller of vintage photographs but Christmas was not something I focused on. You have a lovely lens and I hope make mine good and have them seen.

- I have a box of old post cards but I don't think a one of them is Christmas. I need to take your advice and get them out of the box and out where I can enjoy them. I really enjoyed this lens. Thank you.

- I have some original postcards from several seasons including Christmas that I found at an auction once. They are in an old album dated as early as 1903. Some have never been used by the post office. Should I eBay these?
