A Journey into the Past through vintage magazine ads
Come stroll with me on a journey into the past using vintage magazine ads to bring back memories of your youth.
Old advertising from magazines reminds people of their youth and silly jingles that went along with the products. A simpler time and happy memories of using the products advertised.
Some collectors like to have the old ads to help enhance a collection of items and to help validate the dates that the products were in use. They can even show differences in company logos and slogans used to promote the products.
Crest Toothpaste
A magazine ad from 1958

Look Mom...No cavities! was a popular slogan for Crest Toothpaste back in the 1950's. Norman Rockwell illustrated this ad for Crest in 1958.
Rockwell illustrated a number of advertisements for Crest using All-American looking kids showing Mom the latest report from the dentist.
Barbie and Ken TV Commercial
Walt Disney Movies
Peter Pan

Remember going to the movies on Saturday afternoons? In 1953 Walt Disney released the cartoon version of Peter Pan which was distributed to the theaters by RKO Radio pictures.
The production companies advertised their latest movies heavily in magazines upon their release date. Some were illustrations, some photographs, and some a combination of both.
Santa Fe Railroad and other Memories
Riding the rails to the west and other memories

Did your family take a vacation on a train to the west? Chances are you traveled on the Santa Fe Railroad and saw the Land of the Pueblos in New Mexico.
This ad and many more railroad ads can be found relatively easy if you do a search for vintage railroad ads.
Find your Mom's favorite shampoo by searching for vintage shampoo ads.
Remember a fun time at the soda shop by looking for vintage soda ads.
How about the car Dad drove the family around in? Or your first car? Vintage ads can be found for just about any car ever made.
Whatever you would like your memory to be you can find a large assortment of old magazine ads by doing a quick search with the topic and the words vintage magazine ad with it.
Vintage Ads in Magazines About Appliances
What did Mom serve...
in her coffee cups?

Could it have been Maxwell House coffee? It was good to the last drop or so the advertising said.
Although, this magazine ad from 1949 says that "Everyone knows the sign of good coffee". The sign being an empty coffee cup.
I love the old Maxwell House coffee ads. They usually had a neat Americana scene to enhance the theme of the advertisement. The ad on the right was illustrated by Stan Ekman showing ladies gathering on a porch to share a cup of coffee together.
