Vintage Goggles for Today's Eyes

If you love the look of vintage goggles -- from Aviator and Motorcycle Goggles to Military Goggles and Welder's Goggles -- Ebay has quite an enormous selection of great pairs. So protect your eyes fashionably and pick up a pair of Vintage Driving Goggles.

And be sure to keep a look out for brass goggles, so you'll be the envy of every Steampunk. :)

This week's featured Goggles

Dr Horrible's Goggles

The original goggles that Neil Patrick Harris wears in Dr. Horrible's Sing a Long Blog were made by a company called Fibre-Metal. They are just a particular style of welding goggles. Unfortunately, that particular style number, VG800-H5, is no longer made by Fibre-Metal, so you'll have to either cobble together your own pair or make do with a pair of welding goggles that are reasonable close.

The goggles listed below are probably the closest styles to the Doctor Horrible goggles that Amazon carries.

For the best selection of vintage goggles in all styles, be sure to visit my Vintage Goggles website. And for another great pair of movie goggles that are hard to find, check out my page about the Chronicles of Riddick goggles.

If you don't to muck about designing your own pair of Dr. Horrible glasses, these welding goggles are probably your best bet.

More Cool Goggles

I'm featuring these up front for now. These are a couple of pairs of new goggles that I think look pretty spiffy and they'll definitely be easy on your budget. I think the Industrial Bug Goggles are especially cool and they only cost $11.99.

The Must Have Steampunk Accessory

It's too bad we don't see this sort of thing on Ebay very often. I'm a little surprised that so few designers have exploited the obvious market for them. Don't get me wrong -- the vintage goggles are spectacular, especially the art deco styled goggles, but I'd love a pair of these babies, and I really don't feel like making my own.

An absolutely gorgeous pair of handmade goggles, made from machined & polished brass and hand sewn leather. Just beautiful.
Cyberpunk Goggles
Custom made goggles for Cyperpunks and Steampunk. They have some cool goggles on this site, but the site is scary -- it's like the worst of MySpace and early 90s web design, circa Geocities (shudder!).

Some of the Best Goggles on Ebay

from seller: jmaddengross

When this guy has auctions listed, he always has some of the best goggles available. Positively drool-worthy.

If there's no listing, he doesn't have any auctions online this week.

New Goggles!

Okay, these are not vintage. They're all brand new. But if you are looking to complete your Steampunk attire, some of these might be perfect. You certainly can't beat the prices and most of them could easily be adapted or simply worn as is. So check out the welding goggles, and also some of the cool motorcycle and ski goggles.

Sometimes the right glasses aren't goggles, so I keep my eye out for other interesting pairs of spectacles. One thing to keep in mind: they aren't always in the eyewear section on Ebay. I find some great stuff under Collectibles: Scientific: Optical
