Everything you wanted to know about this unique form of jewlery

I carry a full line of Vintage typewriter Key Jewelry. My new website is www.keysandmemories.com and you will find a full selection of typewriter key jewelry. This is an amazing idea -who would have imagined you could make something so beautiful from that old typewriter rusting out in the garage!

What is a typewriter?

For those of you who only remember a computer

The easy answer is:
1 : a machine for writing in characters similar to those produced by printer's type by means of keyboard-operated types striking a ribbon to transfer ink or carbon impressions onto the paper
First appeared in the dictionary in 1868.
For jewelry, I only use vintage or antique manual typewriters. This usually means typewriters from the late 1800's to mid 1900's. Common names include: Underwood, Royal, LC Smith, Smith Corona, Woodstock, and Remington.
Keys (the area you strike with your finger) are usually glass, celluloid, or bakelite. Later generation plastic keys are not used.
I also use cash register keys. Usually from the National Cash Register Company.
