Vintage Valentine's Day Postcards are beautiful reminders of love from long ago. Collecting them is a hobby of mine.
The Victorian artwork is outstanding and they make lovely decorations when framed and displayed in your home but for me the best part is reading the little messages lovers have sent to one another.
The formal name for postcard collecting is Deltiology, but I prefer to think of myself as a collector, not a deltiologist because I am not an expert. I'm just someone who enjoys collecting postcards as a hobby.

Collecting Vintage postcards is a hobby of mine. I don't claim to be an expert, just someone who enjoys looking at antique valentines.I collect my postcards for enjoyment alone. My collection is not worth a fortune and never will be but my cards are valuable to me because I love them and that is what I suggest to you. Buy postcards that you love, not postcards that you think are going to be valuable. A postcard is only worth what another collector is willing to pay.
Postcards are very delicate and must be handled and stored with care. Framing them is a good way to preserve them, as is keeping them in plastic protector sleeves. Never expose your vintage postcards to sunlight or heat and don't keep them in your basement or attic.
Postcard ratings are basically self-explanatory, Mint, Excellent, Good, Fair, and Poor.
Price guides can be helpful in determining what your postcards are worth but you can also get a good idea of their value by watching similar cards at auctions like eBay. I've included some eBay postcard auctions on this page to help you get started. - I love these! Beautiful designs and lens. I am just starting to collect after a friend sent me some chicken and chick Easter cards. I have 6 collectors guides in the mail, can't wait to get them and more antique postcards, Ebay is the best!
