FANS GET SNEAK PEEK AT NEW X-FILES FILM
Fans who were able to squeeze into the X-Files panel at last month's WonderCon in San Francisco caught a glimpse of the new X-Files film currently filming in Vancouver. The trailer opens with actor Billy Connelly leading a group of agents across an icy pass when they presumably come upon what they are searching for - the camera cuts to the familiar mugs of David Duchovny's Fox Mulder, Gillian Anderson's Dana Scully and a barrage of action scenes involving car crashes, helicopters and the X-Files patented creepy cool imagery.
Debuting 10 years after the first X-Files film, the second big-screen installment of the franchise is said to be a standalone story (it'd kind of have to be), an audience member asked X-Files creator Chris Carter why the movie will be worth the wait.
Carter's answer: "Because it'll scare the pants off of you. Because you'll get to see Mulder and Scully together again, that's why."
For the cheering crowd, that was 'nuff said. (Check out more about the X-Files film at www.vipfanclubs.com). The film will hit theaters July 25.

FORMER WB EXEC DISCUSSES LOSS OF BUFFY IN NEW BOOK
The former president of the WB network, Susanne Daniels, has co-authored a new book title "Season Finale" in which she gives an insider's view of the rise and fall of the WB and UPN - and the importance of Buffy the Vampire Slayer to both. In an interview about her book with Ed Martin for JackMyers.com, Daniels, who is now president of entertainment for Lifetime Networks, says that losing Buffy to UPN led to her resignation:
"It was one of the nails in the coffin in terms of my leaving," she says. "I fought against it. For me, letting Buffy go meant diluting our brand. Once UPN could attach itself to that show, which was everything The WB stood for, it was over. I couldn't live with my "enemy," which is how I saw them, having that show. It was early 2001 that we let the show go. I left in June 2001. I resigned as president of entertainment."
