Interactive Touch Screen Foil
Visual Planet Ltd manufacture and globally distribute an Interactive Touch Screen Foil known as the "ViP Interactive Foil". By using leading "Projected Capacitance" Touch Screen technology, the ViP Interactive Foil can be applied to any non-metallic surface and create a fully-functional touch screen. The ViP Touch Screen Foil is designed to be used in a wide variety of Touch Screen applications and can solve many problems that businesses face in the workplace.
The ViP Interactive Foil can be applied directly to a window or a glass sheet. A rear projection screen or LCD can then be mounted behind the Touch Screen Foil to create a through-window/glass touch experience. The Foil itself is either permanently mounted or mounted with the intention of later removal. With the Touch Screen Foil being applied one side of the glass and the user being the other side, the controller and electronics are completely safe from vandalism and harsh weather conditions. The electronics can be programmed for different thicknesses of glass up to 25mm thick.
By using a rear projection method, the ViP Interactive Foil can be applied to holographic and high contrast diffusion screens. As well as the Through-window version, Visual Planet also provide the Information Point version of the product. Touch Overlays use the Touch Screen Foil by mounting them in front of LCD screens.
The ViP Interactive Foil uses projected capacitance from a laminated plastic foil with an embedded XY array of sensing wires. These wires are connected to a controller which calculates the change in capacitance from the X and Y coordinates once a touch is made. Sizes of the foil vary from 30 - 84 '' in 4:3 display format and 30 - 116'' in 16:9 display format. Visual Planet's flexible manufacturing process allows customers to choose the position of the electronic components depending on where they wish to apply the foil. When applied to glass, the ViP Touch Screen Foil can be programmed for different thicknesses of glass and also used with gloved hands, enhancing its use eternally to shops and high street businesses.
Due to the projected capacitance technology, the user of the Touch Screen does not need to directly touch the foil for activation to occur. This is because the ViP Interactive Foil will operate through Glass or Acrylic. In addition to this, as the Touch Screen Foil can be mounted on one side of glass, it is scratch and wear resistant if the user is on the other side of the glass. There is also no requirement to have any external wires or devices as all of the Touch Screen components are situated safely behind glass. The size of the foil is very flexible so any sized window or screen up to 116'' can potentially become an interactive playspace. Visual Planet also provide the product in bespoke or standard specifications to meet any needs of their customers.
