Summer Celebration Wine Festival

American Viticultural Areas (AVAs) are designated wine grape-growing regions in the United States distinguishable by geographic features. AVA boundaries are defined by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), United States Department of the Treasury.

The Shenandoah Valley AVA
The Shenandoah Valley AVA is Frederick, Clarke, Warren, Shenandoah, Page, Rockingham, Augusta, Rockbridge, Botetourt and Amherst counties in Virginia, and Berkeley and Jefferson counties in West Virginia.
The Monticello AVA
The Monticello AVA is in the central Piedmont area. The area is home to Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, where Jefferson experimented with European grape varieties.
Virginia's Eastern Shore AVA
Virginia's Eastern Shore AVA is located on the southern end of the Delmarva Peninsula, an area that is characterized by sandy soils and weather that is influenced by the Chesapeake Bay and coastal waters.
George Washington Birthplace AVA
The Northern Neck George Washington Birthplace AVA includes Westmoreland, King George,Northumberland, Lancaster and Richmond counties. The area is known for production of Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, Vidal Blanc and Chambourcin.
The North Fork of Roanoke AVA
The North Fork of Roanoke AVA includes Roanoke and Montgomery counties. Wines of this AVA include Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Norton and others.
The Rocky Knob AVA
The Rocky Knob AVA is located in Floyd and Patrick counties in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Wineries of this AVA have mostly loam and gravel soils that are well drained.
